My wife and i spent two nights aboard for our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff on the boat were amazing and made our stay very enjoyable. They even organised a special dinner for our anniversary which was beautiful. If you have the time do the two night as you will get bit more time to take in all the breathtaking scenery. We had the number 1 cabin right at the front with a private balcony and access to the front of the boat which was nice and quiet. The food was really good and the drinks were reasonably priced.

For 3 days and 2 nights we decided to sail on a cruise through Halong bay. My friend recommended us Paloma Cruise. The trip was really worth the money. Comfortable spaces and cabin. Delicious food, all well cooked and served. It was a great choice for our honeymoon, and they also treated us with surprises we truly appreciate. If we have a chance to visit Vietnam again, we will choose Vietflametours one more time because of the high quality you guys providing us. Thanks a lot.

My boyfriend and I booked a one night 2 day package with Paloma Cruises on Ha Long Bay months ago and finally experienced it a couple of days ago. Ha Long Bay is incredibly beautiful and peaceful - you feel like you're on the edge of the world once you're out in the bay. With Paloma Cruise we could fully enjoy the beauty and serenity of the bay thanks to their five star service, comfortable cabins, and smooth itinerary. I loved how you could do however much or little you felt like when it came to activities. For example we didn't feel like kayaking and therefore opted for cocktails on the deck and a quick dip later on. The staff also made a good effort to get people to mingle by putting on a "Sunset Party" with happy hour and complimentary snacks up on the top deck. Not only was the sunset phenomenal, but the drinks were strong and the music was on point for getting people socializing. I would highly recommend paying more for a seamless experience like this. The people on our boat definitely seemed happier than a lot of other groups we saw coming and going between their boats and the sites we saw! Oh and also a shout-out to our cruise manager/guide Hoang - or Harry in English - who kept the atmosphere light and full of laughs with his own special brand of humor. Enjoy the Paloma!

I am traveling with my husband on a 3 month trip and we'd been doing mostly budget things but decided to spend a little more to do 2 nights on Halong Bay with Paloma Cruise. It was such a wonderful experience and well worth the money! At first I was worried we'd be kind of over planned with group activities but that didn't end up being the case at all. The views are beautiful and just being on the boat you are immediately relaxed. Every single staff member was kind and eager to help and we enjoyed learning some stories from each of them. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their work and truly enjoy what they do! We were really happy to have chosen the 2 night option as the 1 night guests didn't get as much time to just relax and enjoy. The food on the boat was fantastic. I am a picky eater and don't like seafood which I was worried about, but I just let them know and they fixed delicious non-seafood alternatives for every single course of every single meal. I was so impressed! My husband did say however that it was some of the best seafood he had in Vietnam so I was probably missing out! Sleeping on the boat was great...two of the best nights sleep we've had on this whole trip. If I go back to Halong Bay, I would happily choose Vietflametours and do this cruise again and again!

We experienced 2 nights with a great team on the Paloma Cruise. The cruise bed room and amenities has been just renovated and upgraded. All looked very new and I can not complaint anything. Food was good. We loved a cooking demonstration with chef guidance. Staffs were very friendly and they were willing to help when we were in need. Highly recommended.

We used Vietflametours to book the 2 day Paloma Cruise and every minute onboard was worth it! We were very lucky as the weather was awesome, sunny and bright, and not extremely hot! First day is packed with activities (visit a cave, snorkel, sunset party, dinner) so don´t have time to really relax. Second day we transferred to a smaller boat and cruised all day, did some snorkel, bbq on the beach, relaxing on the boat...it was great! And the scenery absolutely wonderful! The staff made us feel at home. Food is very good, delicious, fresh and good quality. Will recommend it to everyone that wants to have a typical vietnamese experience.

We booked a two days one night Pelican Cruise through Vietflametours and we really love it. The boat itself is lovely, a great size and well appointed. The food was plentiful and delicious. The on-board drinks initially appear (for Vietnam) expensive, but the two well placed happy hours make them very reasonable. We wanted to relax after a fair bit of travelling, and we certainly did that, although I was so relaxed I kept dozing off when trying to read my book! But if you want to be active there are plenty of activities: visit floating village, a cave, Kayaking, swimming, cookery demonstration, Tai Chi... Le Bac, Chau and Trung were awesome, fun and so hardworking! We had a brilliant time.

I had a very enjoyable trip, the staffs are friendly and the food is exceptionally good! The room is clean and comfortable. Massage came as a surprise because we were expecting female masseurs but a guy came and we were not that used to it, felt a little shorter than the 1 hour which we requested but we were so comfortable we didn't really care. The squid fishing was fun too! Many enjoyable moments and I would definitely come again! Thank Vietflametours a lot for this amazing trip.

The cruise was wonderful, the rooms comfortable, the staff extremely friendly and the the food delicious. We loved that there was a a variety of activities from Kayaking, swimming, cave exploring, cooking classes, night fishing and more. On the other hand there was plenty of time to just hang out, enjoy the view and take things easy with a cocktail or beer. Halong Bay is a must and the Siversea Cruise made the visit all the more enjoyable.

Wow, well where do I start. I cannot fault this company and tour boat cruise! Everything was more than perfect! The food, staff, cleanliness and organisation was sensational! My partner and I search around a lot to find the perfect cruise that wasn't another "horror boat cruise" story. We were picked up from our hotel exactly the time they estimated for us. The boat was exceptional and the staff were amazing. I highly recommend this cruise "Halong Silversea Cruise" and Vietflametours company !! It's a must!

We just spent 1 night aboard with Halong Silversea Cruise, and had the most incredible time! Our room was massive with spectacular views and great amenities. The food was divine, cocktails morish, and the staff worked hard, with a good level of English on board. The staff remained professional throughout, even when some passengers were making unfair demands. Where we travelled didnt seem to be as overwhelmed with other boats as I'd anticipated. The cave tour was well worth the massive queues. Highly recommend the Halong Silversea Cruise to those wanting comfort, good food and more secluded anchorage. Thanks Vietflametours.

The manager, Thomas, made sure everything runs smoothly. Our room got upgraded to a suite with bath with a view to nature, complimentary wine and massages. Room was clean, amazing view to the water, and smell nice. Plenty of food with a good mix of Western and Asian food. Activities include swimming, kayaking, and visiting the cave.

We did this 24-hour trip with Halong Silversea Cruise. The service was excellent, going just that extra bit further to make the trip memorable. You join the hundreds of junk ships departing from the wharf after midday and return the following day at midday. There are 30 or so 'counters' at the wharf and you are told which one to go to when you book. From each counter several ships depart, so at midday it's a scene of chaos, with people returning trying to find their bus back and people arriving unsure if they're in the right place as there is no one to ask. The scenery though, is everything you hope for with almost 2 thousand karst mountain islands filling the landscape. We were lucky with the weather fortunately. It closed in a bit on the return journey and I can verify that you won't see much in the rain. Be aware that you will not feel alone during this experience, this was off-peak and there were always 6-25 other ships at close quarters or in sight. Often yours or these other ships will play loud music. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The meals are usually 5 course and were excellent. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Flamingo Cruise is a very well organized trip to Halong bay. They take you at your hotel, offer water for the bus trip, take care of every details. For a two days trip, we have we'll me lunch, apero and dinner on day 1, breakfast and brunch on day 2. We were taken to a beatiful cave in halong bay and then we have 1 hour kayaking. On the next day, we could climb ti top and went to the beach. At last, before coming back, we also have vietnamese cooking class. The rooms are spacious (considering that it is a boat). Everything was amazing. The staff is very kind and helpful! Top value for money spent!! Try it!!

My husband and I have recently come back from Halong Bay and staying with Flamingo Cruises and it was excellent! The staff went out of their way to help us with anything, at one point my husband lost his wedding ring on the beach and our guide Jonny and one of the other members of staff stayed to help us search in the sand till we found it! The cabins were lovely, we had a balcony which was fantastic and amazing view when the sun set and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on! The only slight problem we had was the coach on the way as we are both quite tall and didn't have much room but we mentioned it on our comment card and they put us on a different coach with more space for the journey home. It was just fantastic from start to finish and we would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Vietnam!

Wonderful Experience! We were a little nervous after all the reviews I read "You get what you pay for" and this cruise was WAY cheaper than the others I priced (the top ones on Tripadvisor). This boat was excellent -- to begin with, none of them look like the photos, so just go in knowing that...no matter how much you pay. The food was excellent - tons of fresh seafood, fruit, and they catered to those that had allergies or were vegetarian for every meal. The activities were wonderful -- we went into both Ha Long Bay and Ba Tu Long Bay, went up to the lookout point, checked out the cave, went Kayaking through caves and saw monkeys, swam around our boat/jumped off the boat into the water, saw the Pearl fishing villages. They also offer the option to stay 2 nights and go onto Cat Ba Island, which part of our group did and also enjoyed. The staff were wonderful and very helpful -- and seemed to be enjoying their time with us. We also learned how to make yummy fresh spring rolls! The whole boat (which consisted of 5 couples) were all between 25-30, so we had a nice mix of being able to have a few drinks but not stay up till 4 in the morning partying on a packed boat. I would highly recc. this boat to anyone-- even if not between the ages of 25-30. The rooms were like a typical boat room, but they were clean and comfortable with astounding views :) The company's office is conveniently located in the old quarter of Hanoi (VIET FLAME TOURS), and they pick you up, drive you to Ha Long Bay, and then return you to Hanoi. The 3 hour bus ride was very comfortable, stopping for us to use the restrooms, and in an air conditioned van with plenty of space (and its a very pretty drive). The company also provided lockers in Hanoi to keep bulkier baggage. The company also consistently e-mailed me whenever I had questions (even after booking and paying), and did not rip me off like many of the other companies try to do. They also offer combined packages (Sapa and Ha Long Bay) so I would check out their larger packages if wanting a complete package!

It's a very special place; we made the cruise end of june 2015. Evarywhere you look around, in each moment of the day, you feel the need to make a photo :). One think I MUST to suggest; make the 3 days cruise, not the 2; the one more day is the best experience of the whole cruise; you see more wonderful landscapes, you are brought in less crowdy places, kajaking among silent lagoons and swimming in lonely very small beaches. Have a nice trip!

Staff was so friendly and my guide spoke perfect English who gave us amazing experiences about the Halong Bay's legend. Get on the Boat, we were welcome with juices and tasty lunch seafood. We did kayaking and discovered the fishing villages. Night time was great foods again. Bar tender done his good job, we drank each 4 glasses Margarita was fabulous. Room with fine double bed but very impressive decoration. Breakfast wake up with a big tea, coffee, bread, juices. About noon we were at the Pier and back to Hanoi. Oh! This was so amazing! We could not have asked for a better day! Nick and Val did a fantastic job of making our day PERFECT! We also enjoyed talking to Stud and Charlie! Sailing is absolutely the most fun thing in the world for me so I was in heaven! I've been snorkeling many times but this was the BEST by far! Nick got into the water and fed the turtles so they would come up for us to see! We actually touched a large logger head turtle! There were so many turtles all around us! Then we snorkeled over 3 ship wrecks and saw tons of beautiful fish! The boat is lovely, the drinks were abundant, the food was all fantastic...appetizers - which were not expected, main meal and even dessert! We were definitely pampered! We would highly recommend this tour! Thanks guys for a PERFECT DAY! I hope to be back some day!

We were recommended this cruise from the hundreds to choose from by BestPriceVietnam which was able to get a better price than we could direct. We did the 3D/2N cruise which cost around $900 for 2 connecting rooms (we are a family of 4 with 8 and 10 year old boys). We didn't know what to expect but the rooms were really excellent - nicely furnished and great floor to ceiling sliding windows. The staff were very attentive and professional and the food was fantastic - if anything, there was to much. We enjoyed the spring roll cookery class on both evenings. We echo others comments about the price of drinks, which is relatively high compared to the mainland, but I suppose that's to be expected bearing in mind where you are! The boat that we were transferred to for the 2nd days activities was looking a bit tired, but the crew were terrific and made sure that everyone had a good time kayaking and swimming. The boys particularly loved jumping off the side into the water. Oh, and a brief comment about the scenery in Halong Bay, which is absolutely breathtaking even when it's raining!

Ha Long Bay is a must see - possibly one of the most beautiful places I have visited. Cruizing around these tranquil waters on this luxury floating hotel was a perfect way to end our tour of Viet Nam. The decor on the boat is islander - the food - mainly seafood and plentiful - the views ever changing - but always spectacular. Our hostess come tour guide - Min - was always on hand to ensure we experienced everything on offer.

Did tons of reasearch on Halong Bay cruises and once again TripAdvisor came thru! The 3 day - 2 night cruise by Indochina Junk aboard their Red Dragon Pearl Cruise exceeded all of our expectations. The itinerary is in the less travelled Bai Tu Long area of Halong Bay (Indochina Junk have the exclusive rights) so with the exception of the afternoon at the beach/cave island (a few other Red Dragon Pearl Cruise moored), we never saw any other tourists. Absolutely extraordinary! Great itinerary, exceptional service, comfortable cabins, delicious 10 & 11 course meals, interesting & high quality excursions. Highly recommend.

I arrived in Hanoi alone with only a couple free days before meeting friends for the remainder of my trip. The team got me booked the night before for this one-day cruise on a Sunday. In short, it was a great experience. Not geared toward the luxury traveler (and mid-range price reflects that) but perfect for the average tourist or family. Mini-bus was comfortable and the guide was engaging and funny, with good English. We spent 3 or 4 hours on the boat, which was long enough to get to the highlights and do some kayaking / visiting the caves. It can end up being a long day once everyone is dropped off at hotels in the evening, but if you're strapped for time like I was and can't do overnight, then this is a great One Day tour.

All the staff were friendly and helpful on the boat. Food was fresh and tasty and a large variety. We had a cooking demonstration and learnt how to make spring rolls. We had 2 nights and 3 days on board and enjoyed every minute. Tours to fishing village etc. were all interesting. When you visit a village you can either walk, ride a bike or like us, we rode in an electric car so all age groups are catered for. Our cabin was clean and was cleaned every day - no shortage of hot water. Halong Bay is a site not to be missed.

Amazing boat, enjoyable itinerary, friendly staff and exceptional food. An absolute must if budget and/ or time can accommodate it. There’s often a lot of debate as to whether to stay for one night or two. Personally, I found 1 night sufficient. It didn’t feel rushed, it didn’t feel as though I’d travelled a long way and didn’t get to stay long enough. It was more than plentiful. However, there are worse places to spend an extra night! If opting for 2 nights, I’d say it should purely be down to personal preference rather than feeling 1 night is insufficient. This place is well worth visiting, even if you can only see it for half a day. And without question, doing it with Paradise Cruises was a great decision.

Booked a 2 night 3 day tour as part of a two week trip to Vietnam. Brilliant choice. Boat was clean, cabins spacious and clean, food out of this world. Cruise manager, Quan was first class. Nothing to much trouble, staff and service all deserve top marks. The outstanding natural beauty of the area made it very difficult not to have a good time. The 2 night cruise is a better option than the 1 night as you get to see more. Great trip no hesitation to give top rating. Thanks Quan you and your team were really good.

Our family of 6 recently (29/08 to 30/08) had a wonderful time in Halong Bay. We joined Aphrodite Supreme Cruise for their 2D ay 1Night cruise. The cruise was recommended by Baffalo Tours. The food was first class so was the service and attention the crew gave us. The quality service started even before we boarded the boat---the reception staff were most welcoming and clear with their instructions before embarkation. On the trip out to the island, cave and floating village, the staff made sure safety first was paramount. On board, we were looked after by polite staff lead by the Operation and Cruise Managers (Ronald and Hershey). The facility was boutique style which suited us well. The food was superb ---fine dinning for dinner and abundance of food for breakfast and lunch. The whole experience was faultless! We highly recommend Aphrodite to anyone who is looking for a pampered cruise through Halong Bay

This cruise disappointed on many counts. Pros: Staff were really lovely and welcoming. Beds were comfortable. Simple but comfortable and attractive furnishings. Cons: the website leads you to expect an atmospheric and chic décor--and it is not. Even the deluxe cabin is very simple with little decoration. The food was really pretty terrible: steam trays of overcooked food that had none of the freshness or subtle flavoring you find all over Vietnam even in simple street food. It most resembled really mediocre American Chinese food. Drinks were wildly expensive. The packed itinerary had nary a dull moment and we just felt really harried by it. All in all, this felt rather dreary and like a long way to go for little fun and a feeling of being used.

After a very friendly welcome at the harbour, we were taken in a small shuttle boat to our wonderful cruise boat. Another very friendly welcome aboard and we were assisted to our cabin. It was fantastic, had everything we needed, and with a small balcony. Our trip to the surprising cave was just that, surprising, although mesmerising is probably better. All our meals were excellent, and my food allergies were taken care off with no problem (we'd notified them in advance, just in case). The captain and his crew were all fabulous, so friendly, courteous and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. We loved our tai chi lesson, and treated ourselves to a massage which was fantastic! Halong Bay was so beautiful and as it was a special occasion for us, we're delighted it was spent with the Huong Hai Sealife cruise team.

The whole experience was fantastic. The crew were so friendly and helpful, food was great (chef catered really well to our daughters GF diet). Cabins were clean. Activities included sea kayaking to a beach, with a swim, our son had fun playing soccer with other travellers and Off-duty crew, a visit to a fishing village, a cycling tour to a village (with optional electric car transport for those not up to cycling) and a cave tour- all well organised.

We enjoyed a 3 day 2 night cruise on this ship, and can thoroughly recommend it. The service was excellent, the organisation of activities very efficient, and the room facilities were all you could ask for. The food quality was excellent, and although the visibility was somewhat degraded, it is hard to imagine a better way to see Halong Bay. You can be as energetic or relaxed as you please. Altogether a great way to spend a few days in remarkable scenery. Have a nice trip!

Could not ask for a better service abroad the cruise. Staff were attentive and accommodating. Will recommend the cruise for a fuss free luxury cruise for you to just lay back and chill. I have just had the most incredible 3 days 2 night cruise onboard AuCo. If you are wondering between one or two nights, let me help, without a doubt go for 2 nights. The drive alone from hanoi is nearly 4 hours, so it hardly seems worth it to get on the boat for only one night. Allow the time for two nights, trust me you'll be so thankful that you did. It's good to get out of crazy busy hanoi for some fresh air and peace. The staff onboard are wonderful and naturally warm. They try so hard to please all guests and they do it in a close friendly way. Try to take some time to get to know the staff as they all have such interesting lives. The food onboard is incredible. 5 course meals each time we sat down and so beautifully presented.

We went for the 3 day 2 night cruise. Throughout the cruise, we were in good hands. From the boat transfer to the ship and the kayaking tours, safety standards were great and we were well taken care of. It was compulsory to wear life vests during our transfer to the cruise on the boat. During the kayaking on the second day, we were assigned a kayak for two people and were told that we could kayak to 'find' our own beach. This was nice but for us who have never kayaked, we were a little apprehensive that we would be able to reach any beaches though we could see them. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find that a staff had followed us on a kayak to make sure that we were not lost. We had imagined that it the waters would have been rough for kayaking but it was not. The waters were calm. The staff led those who wanted to follow him to a beautiful small enclosed lagoon. The 2 sessions of kayaking took up the morning until late afternoon. The cruise was well organized and quite packed with activities. This is definitely not for those who would like to sleep and laze on the deck all day long. This is wonderful for those who would like to experience mild water activities in a very scenic environment. The activities did not require great physical demand. Considering that we were not the exercising kind, we were able to complete the activities without much difficulty. The food was great with fresh seafood. My family enjoyed ourselves. The highlight was definitely the experience of kayaking and we did not regret taking the 3 day cruise as the 2 day cruise would exclude this part.

We stayed 2 days and one night and wished we had gone for the 2 night option. The accommodation was far more comfortable than we imagined. The food was excellent and very fresh. My wife is vegetarian and the staff took great delight in presenting her with her own courses. The staff were all lovely and Sunny explained the itinerary well and took great care of my wife when she hit her head on one of the low caves ( her fault ). There are a lot of other boats that's why it would have been nice to have got away from the others on the second night but still it was great.

After visiting Halong Bay several times in the past and mostly with cheap cruises, I decided to treat myself to a real cruise. The Pellican Cruise was amazing and I can honestly say without exaggerating that it should be the only way anyone experiences Halong Bay. I might even say that if it's too expensive for you, don't even go to Halong bay while in Vietnam, and come back later with more money to make yourself this gift. The food was perfect, the boat is gorgeous and the staff is very professional. The rooms are beautiful and will make you feel like you're in the french movie "Indochine". There are no guides, no useless informations about local legends that no one cares about and are mostly not true, the whole cruise is just about the place. No music, no distraction : just the Halong Bay in all it's beauty. Thank you for this memorable time , Cheers !

Halong Bay us one of the must seen places you need to visit in Vietnam. Me n my wife took 2 days 1 night boat trip with Royal Heritage Cruise. We love the accommodation, not brand new boat but clean, good service and classic. Lick as the tour guide always helpful and make sure all of the guests satisfied. The food are incredible, fresh and tasty. The karaoke for singing available at the restaurant with lots of song collections. Boat Captain also give the Tai Chi Class in the morning with the fresh air and lovely view on the top. Our honeymoon trips become amazing and funtastics.

We took a 2 day cruise to Halong Bay and it was one of our favorite moment in our 30 day trip to South East Asia! We decided to opt for a smaller more intimate setting so the 9 room only option seemed like the best option and we did not regret at all! Amazing host who was there for us from beginning to end. The staff onboard was very friendly and and the food was also pretty good (Lots & lots of food!). I recommend it to anyone who wants a more cozy and personable atmosphere.

At first I was filled with trepidation, but that was quickly dispelled, as I found the staff and crew to be really on top of their game, plus they proved really interactive, informative, plus fun to be with. I was told the boat was only three star, I personally would award four, as the food was out of this world, in fact I considered myself spoilt, if anything there was a little too much of it. So Kevin, thankyou so much, extend my gratitude to the crew, absolutely fantastic.( even though I never caught a squid on the night fish)

My partner and I enjoyed a tremendous cruise with Legacy (January 2015). The boat was better than we had expected - old but clean. We had a superior double room that was small but comfortable. The bathroom was nice - although the water pressure in the shower was a little suspect (all too be expected). The food was excellent during most meals. We liked the Vietnamese breakfast option of beef noodle soup, but others didn't partake, as they were looking for a more western breakfast. Otherwise, the food was mostly very tasty - with a local flair. The only comment was that it wasn't spicy enough (as locals would have it). We had to continuously ask for more chilli. The only caution is to watch out for the drink prices - they are a bit expensive. Plus, only water is free on the boat. This was a minor inconvenience if you weren't aware of it. The crew were very friendly and helpful - I can't say enough about their professionalism. They went out of their way to help out when asked. I would recommend the 3 day/2 night cruise over the 1 night cruise. On the 2nd day, the kayaking is much better (a more isolated location), you get a longer cruise on the harbour (without the hordes of other boats) and it is just more relaxing as you are not worried about being on a tight schedule (you may have to switch boats, however). As for transport, the organisation of the pickup from Hanoi went off without a hitch and they were willing to drop you off in locations other than the old quarter, if needed.

We enjoyed our Halong Bay trip, although the scenery is so stunning it's hard not to be impressed no matter who you do the cruise with. The cabin was a decent size and the staff filled the time quite well with food, caves, squid fishing, kayaking and visiting the pearl farm. However we were disappointed on a couple of points; firstly the buses used to pick up/ drop off were not big enough for everyone so we were placed in buses from other tour groups going each way so we were never with the group on our boat, meaning everyone else had already got to know each other by the time we arrived. The other disappointment was the food; the theory seemed to be quantity over quality so there was a constant onslaught of average food, where as we would preferred fewer dishes of nicer quality. There was also no music or entertainment after dinner, so most people seemed to retreat to their cabins by 8:30pm, which was a shame.A good experience.

Having visited Milford Sound in NZ recently, wasn't expecting much here. But was very pleasantly surprised! Halong Bay is one of the most beautiful places I've every been and doing the tour with Majestic cruises was very good. I loved everything about the way the whole thing was planned except for the entertainment bit ( or lack thereof)! Luckily, we had great company on board and we all had fun. The food was very good, but I would suggest that you carry a few snacks for in between meals and some chocolates. Our guide Mr.Tan was good, I would highly recommend this tour company.

We had a lovely time on our paradise cruise in halong bay. We arrived 3 days later than planned due to a typhoon, so we weren't able to stay in the suites we had initially reserved. But the smaller room was fine, just not wow. The weather was very overcast and drizzly, but still allowed us to sit outside and take advantage of the spectacular views. We had an excursions to the caverns, a spring roll cooking class and a very nice dinner. The next day, coffee and cookies before our excursion to see the monkeys, who were out in force because of the overcast weather. Then breakfast and enjoying the panoramic views of the return trip. A must see if you go to Vietnam.

I recently did a 2 day/1night cruise of Halong Bay with Indochina Sails. My experience with them was excellent. I was picked up in Hanoi at my Hotel and you can expect a three hour drive to Halong Bay to arrive at your boat. There is a stop midway at what appears to be a large tourist shop, but it looked like all trips heading to and from the Bay seem to have some sort of agreement to stop there. Once at Halong Bay the Junk was fantastic. The cabin was stunning and the food was superb. The crew were also fantastic, very friendly and great fun. Interested in the people taking the cruise rather than just seeing you as another passenger. Meals are included in the price, but drinks aren't. There are a couple of happy hours, but do expect the drinks to be very expensive by Vietnamese standards. On boarding the Junk you will be assigned a cabin and then treated to a very large lunch. Trust me, go easy on breakfast! The first day you cruise through the bay and can watch the stunning scenery pass by. A stop at a floating fishing village were you can opt to kayak for an extra $10 or sail with a local in a small boat with a few other guests from your ship. After that you return to the junk to relax and have dinner in the evening. There was the chance to do some squid fishing at night, although nobody caught any the night I was there. The next morning it's an early start with some tai chi on the top deck for those interested before heading over to one of the islands in the bay. The island has a small beach and a hill that can be climbed to get some stunning views. Be aware that the climb to the top is a long steep spiral of stairs, so anyone with mobility issues would struggle to reach the top. After that is was back to the junk for breakfast and sailing back to the dock for midday. I loved my experience with Indochina Sails and wish I had taken the 3 day/2 day option. I had a wonderful time and the staff made the experience even better.

This review is long overdue as I promised to post last year when we did the 2day/1night cruise in november. We booked the suite which gives you a little bit more space and a full bathroom and is not excessively more expensive than a normal double room, so worth thinking about especially if you are doing the 2 night stay - which I would recommend as 1 night didn't really seem long enough given the transfer time from Hanoi. We booked directly with Indochina Sails, which at the time proved cheaper than booking through our hotel or other tour operator. The service and advice from Ho Lan Phuong was 1class throughout and she was even at our hotel in Hanoi to meet us on our return to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. We were picked up on time from our hotel and shared transfer with another couple. Same scenario on returning to Hanoi. The transfer is approx 4 hours with a short comfort break half way. The boat is of a high standard and probably one of the best cruising Halong Bay. The food was very good and the guide accompanying us very informative. As we were travelling for 3 weeks we had a fair bit of luggage, which we left in our hotel in Hanoi and only brought an overnight bag for the cruise. This cruise is not for travellers seeking the party scene but we can highly recommend for adventurous couples and families.

Having been to Vietnam 10+ times, I have tried pretty much all the boats plying the Halong bay routes. I have been to the caves almost everytime and have Kayaked many of the beautiful grottos. Indochina sails provided us a great product with Excellent service. Food was delicious and one of our Vegetarian peoples loved the special food they created for her, all fresh and innovative. Rooms were spotless and the Host who I cannot remember by name was very friendly and helpful and no request was too much. This was my third time on Indochina Sails and I think the product has gotten better with time. Halong Bay is spectacular and I suggest the two night trip as you really get to see more of it then just the cave and fishing village. If you have any special requests, I would be clear with your cruise director. They really try to make everyone's experience special.

This company have got it 100% right. They are friendly, professional, superbly organised, and totally customer oriented - all on a beautiful boat cruising the truly unique scenery and waterways of Halong Bay. We did the two night cruise and I would recommend that over the one night cruise, as you get to visit an amazing cave formation and go kayaking through "wet caves". No experience necessary - a staff member will go with you in your kayak if you'd like a helping hand. The itinerary is planned with the perfect amount of relaxation time and activities. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer- we were reluctant to leave! I don't think you would regret cruising with this company. It was the highlight of our trip.

We did an overnight trip on the Bhaya Classic 2 and it was well worth the very long trip from Hanoi (we'd recommend 2 nights if you can fit it in). We treated ourselves and updated our cabin to the royal suite and we weren't disappointed. Definitely worth the extra money - we had our own balcony (no other cabins do), enjoyed having our own space and afternoon drinks on our own deck. If you're lucky enough to get on board boat 2 make sure you spend some time with King Kong! He runs the bar and has plenty of tricks and puzzles to entertain you all afternoon - kept us busy during happy hour! And he's pretty good with the fruit carving - he made me an amazing dragon from a pineapple for my cocktail. All of the staff were friendly, happy and helpful. The food was amazing, the staff even set us up a private dinner on the back deck while everyone else dined inside. Halong Bay is definitely an amazing place and a must see if you visit Vietnam.

The jewel in the crown of Vietnam is Halong Bay. Our group of 18 boarded our boat for a cruise around the 3,000 islets that rise from the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. The scenery was stunning, and the bizarre rock sculptures jutting dramatically from the sea and numerous grottoes created an enchanting, timeless world. The staff on our boat were extremely friendly and welcoming. Our cabin was small, but spotlessly clean and comfortable, although entering and using the toilet was a bit of a contortionist act (we are very tall people, and sitting on the toilet in the tiny cubicle had our knees actually touching the wall lol!). We had a seafood lunch and set sail, cruising around the bay. We visited a fishing village, where we were taken on small boats to enjoy the rock formations see some fascinating caves along the way - four per boat, and hand rowed. The lady who rowed our small boat was very strong - well done! Some on our tour swam around our boat in the afternoon, as we couldn't anchor near the beaches. There was a cooking demonstration, making spring rolls on the top deck. Dinner was lovely, watching the sun setting over the bay. We tried our hand at squid fishing off the back of the boat. Didn't catch anything, but had fun trying. We rose early on our second day, hoping to see the sun rise, but clouds prevented this (which was a shame). My husband was amused when he pulled back the curtains in our cabin, that there was a woman in a boat, trying to see him Coke or chips from a small boat. Tai chi was offered early morning too, and after breakfast, we went to a lovely cave area, which was packed with tourists. The ticket booth should work out a staggered system to accommodate the many people who want to see the caves. The walk through the caves was great. Afterwards, we enjoyed brunch onboard before arriving back at the wharf around midday. A great experience.

Each person on board was treated with respect and a smile and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the bar had some of the best wine I had on my whole trip through Vietnam. The room was delightful. Small, but big enough with even a balcony where you could sit and soak up the serenity and the views. I had the best night's sleep on the boat as the bed was so comfortable. From the moment the crew shouted welcome from the deck then showered us with petals as we boarded to they danced a dance for us as we left the next day this was a truly amazing experience. I was on Bhaya Classic 2 which was immaculate inside and out with comfortable (if a bit small) cabins, very comfortable beds, a small but better bathroom and shower than I have had in some hotels and a nice sun deck and balcony tables for 2 off the dining room. The staff are incredible. Very helpful, very friendly, good fun, great at their jobs and with up to 40 people still remembered cabin numbers even just after 2 hours of sailing. A good introduction was presented before a fantastic buffet lunch. The mango mousse is a must. The trip to the fishing village is well worth it then you set sail again to watch the sunset while enjoying a 2 hour happy hour. Dinner is served at your table. It was nice but not the best meal of the trip. I'd have been happier with another buffet. Some reviews commented on the price of drinks but I thought they were very reasonable and the wine was nice. I was too tired to get up for the sunrise but it wasn't a very good one. I also missed the Thai chi lesson. I stayed on board and relaxed but those who did the cave said it was a bit touristy and lots of rude people that push their way into the queue. We had breakfast then brunch a few hours later and both were excellent. The route the junk takes is stunning beyond words. I would highly recommend this company and this excursion. Ladies they do provide hair dryers on request. They also provide towels if you want to swim in the bay and deck shoes. If you have a lot of electrical stuff to charge there is only one socket and if possible only take hand luggage as the cabins are small. There is free wifi that works well on the bar/restaurant floor. Enjoy. I didn't want to get off!

This was an exceptional experience. The boat was luxurious, food impeccable, the service sensational and caring. In fact, the lovely Miss Mo even offered me to use her phone when mine didn't work!! The excursions were meaningful and led by knowlegible their employees, that had several other functions on the ship. Just comparing visually the other tour operators' vessels, it's obvious that Paradise superior. The other boats were not well maintained.

My wife and spent 3 weeks traveling through Thailand and Vietnam for our honeymoon and saw and experienced so many wonderful attractions, but this was by far the best. We were picked up in Hanoi and after a four hour drive we were dropped off at the port for Paradise Cruises, from that point forward we were treated like royalty. The staff, the rooms, the attractions and very aspect of the cruise was amazing. If you are looking for romance and luxury this is bar none the best cruise you can take in Halong Bay. Also, I would recommend the 3 day 2 night cruise.

My girlfriend and I recently did the two day one night tour on The Paradise Luxury #4, and we were overwhelmed by the quality of the cruise from start to finish. The staff were absolutely fantastic, particularly the cruise manager Lance and our butler Chen. Every detail of the cruise has been thoughtfully considered, so we really felt like we were living in pure luxury for a couple of days. Our cabin was spacious, with a hot tub in the bathroom and sliding doors out onto our private section of deck. The food was simply divine, and we always felt relaxed around the staff, who are impeccably courteous and friendly at all times. They were happy to cater for my shellfish allergy and adapt the menu, and kept bringing out course after course, which were all delicious. I would whole heartedly recommend this cruise to anybody looking to treat themselves, and if you have the time and money, opt for the three days two nights option simply to spend more time on the beautiful boat and enjoy more of the splendid activities they have on offer.

If Halong Bay is on your bucket list (and it should be!), then we recommend you do it right. Pay the extra for a memorable, well-organised and luxury cruise. Most other boats just aren't in the same league. We stayed for two days and one night and regret only that we didn't choose to do the longer cruise.

It was a wonderful way to experience this very beautiful bay! The staff on the boat was very welcoming, hospitable, friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend the Indochina Sails cruise!

I booked the suite room at Starlight Cruise for a 2 days 1 night tour and my review as follows:1) Transfer service from Hanoi to Halong Bay and return from Halong Bay to Hanoi:The transfer service was using a 9 seater Ford Van. Pick up from Hanoi hotel was punctual. There's a driver and tour guide, Mr Vu in the van. Tour Guide was informative, pleasant, helpful and friendly. Vu can also speak good simple english. The driver's driving is quite good. As for the van itself, there is not much of a leg space although the van is clean and new. It can be one very uncomfortable journey for taller individuals. It is ok but it is not up to the luxury standard I expect for booking the 5 star starlight cruise. For long hours journey transfer, especially for a 5 star cruise, they should have provided a van with more leg space.2) Cruise itself:At the halong bay jetty, we were first asked to embark a smaller boat to get to the starlight cruise. The transfer boat is ok, looks nice etc. The starlight cruise is massive and yes, does look like a 5 star cruise. First impression upon entering the starlight cruise is it does feel luxury and spacious. We were then served welcome drink (chilled peach juice) while gathering on the restaurant waiting for the tour guide to distribute the room key. For a better experience, suggest the cruise to offer fresh juice instead as welcome drink. After all this is a 5 star cruise.3) Suite Room: Suite room is located on the 4th floor, just beside the restaurant. The suite is spacious (50 meter square) and comes with balcony and luxury jacuzzi bathroom as well as rainshower. I loved the suite room and it does feel luxury like staying in a 4-5 star hotel. The mattress in the suite room is not too hard too, very comfortable for sleeping. Air conditioning system is also working well. Although it is located on the same floor as the restaurant, the room is very quiet. Overall, the suite room is a good choice.4) Meals on cruise: The meals are in set, not buffet. Each meal comes with starter, salad, soup, entre, main course and dessert. It is sort of like fine dining meal. Overall, the food tasted very nice, elegant and delicious. I enjoyed each meal on board at the cruise. For improvement purposes, I would love the set meal to focus more on dessert like a piece of cake, brownie, ice cream etc. Dessert is a bit lacking in my opinion. The restaurant where meals are served has great views, is spacious and clean.5) Activities on Cruise:I would say the 2 days 1 night activities set by cruise can be a little tiring and rushing. The most rushing schedule is on day 2, where we are expected to eat our breakfast at 7am in order for us to be ready for kayak at 8am. And after kayak, we were only given 30-40 minutes to clean up, pack up to check out from our room. Maybe the cruise should allocate more time for the guest to rest and relax after each activities. Otherwise, the cruise activities are fun and great.6) Wifi:Very poor wifi speed and connection at our room and at the restaurant of the cruise. Overall, starlight is a good luxury cruise in Halong Bay. Condition of the room and facilities in the cruise is still good and well maintained. With some minor improvement, I am sure this cruise has a lot of potential to be one of the best in Halong Bay.

We booked a 3-day (2 night) cruise on starlight cruises. It was a great experience. The tour was very well organised. They had lots of things planned with us like visiting amazon caves, kayaking, swimming in remote places. Staff on the boat was very pleasant and very friendly. The rooms and facilities very immaculate, our room even had a private jacuzzi. Food was delicious and very well presented, in the evening they offer little cooking classes for entertainment, later karaoke or squid fishing. Overall a really good stay and I could recommend this cruise to anyone trying to find the perfect cruise on Halong bay!

We stayed 2 days and 1 night on the Starlight Boat. The room was unexpectedly luxurious. The bathroom had a jacuzzi/shower with a picture window and had all the amenities. The bedroom area also had a large view window, was well appointed and luxurious. The lunch and dinner set menu was delicious. Staff very very friendly. You were given the opportunity to visit a cave, swim on one of the beaches and kayak. A must do when visiting Vietnam.

We spent quite some time researching and comparing the various cruises available as we read many reviews warning about scams and crappy experiences. Definitely no regrets picking Aphrodite as they were totally brilliant. Aside from the minor wait times at their offices before and after the cruise, the rest of the trip was pretty great. We got a room with a balcony and it was really nice. The food was awesome and we really liked the cooking class session during happy hour. Activities-wise I think most of cruises do offer the same, however the staff did mention that they paid extra to be able to get a more secluded spot for anchoring the boat. All their staff on the boat were very friendly and accommodating and the tour guides Mach and Pierre (sp?) were very informative and helpful. Lastly, while they do charge slightly more for transport fees, it is definitely worth it as we noticed some other tours packing all their groups into one van. For both pickup and return our van only had 6 people (3 pairs) and we had loads of space to stretch out for the 3 hour ride back to Hanoi.

My boyfriend and I very much enjoyed the cruise, the level of comfort was more than we expected onboard, the meals were very good and the staff onboard provided the best service to us. They even went out of their way to prepare a Halloween dinner with the two Aphrodite boats tied up, and everyone enjoyed the celebrations, with the live music and dinner set up on the top deck..the staff put on their make up and did fruit carvings for Halloween. very well presented night and we did a lot of dancing, something I wasn't expecting given the age range of other guests on board(at 28&30, we were the youngest onboard) Our only recommendation would be to have control over buffet servings, as some people served way too much than they needed which left some without choice of certain foods( there was plenty of food fro everyone to start off with), and also if the tour guide could be a bit more explanatory during the cave tour instead of having the guests walk through themselves without any explanation. Other than that, our onboard experience is one we have talked about to our friends and family so much and have recommended to others to do.. thank you to VIET FLAME TOURS . great trip.

We had an absolute wonderful time on our Ha Long Bay cruise experience. The food was outstanding, the beds were the best we had on our 3 week trip in Vietnam and the cruise staff was incredible. Everyone from the dining staff, to the activity coordinators to the bar staff were so attentive and friendly. We had the right amount of activities, sightseeing, visiting of uncrowded lagoons and caves as well as time to relax. Everything was perfect!

My wife & I, travelling with another couple, did a 2 night cruise. We couldn't wish for better staff on board and the food was excellent. We were pampered for the whole trip. The scenery was amazing and the floating fishing village and Cat Ba Island excursions were fantastic. The Jasmine 2 day cruise was the highlight of our 4 week holiday in Vietnam, Cambodia & Hong Kong. The whole Jasmine experience was conducted in a professional manner. Highly recommended.

I was looking forward to this cruise the most of all the things we did in Vietnam. We stayed for one night on the Jasmine and we really enjoyed it. The scenery is totally stunning so with that in mind you can't go wrong. The range of activities organised keeps you busy while aboard but you can choose to just relax on the deck if you wish. We visited the floating village which was interesting but keep in mind to wear good sturdy shoes as they take you to visit a cave first and the steep steps from the boat to the cave are a bit treacherous. I only had thongs on which i really regretted. Other activities included a Tai Chi class/lesson in the early morning which was lovely. They advertised a cooking lesson on board but this turned out to be a demonstration on making vegetable flowers. I found this disappointing as i was looking forward to actually making and learning a vietnamese dish. They had a massage therapist on board and i would say it is possibly one of the best massages I've ever had. Food was mostly good, but i don't like that even water and softdrink are not included in the meal and you must pay extra. Lunch was served after we boarded, buffet style and plenty of choice. Dinner was buffet style again but bbq which wasn't good at all. I can say that the Vietnamese chefs should stick to what they know best. All the meat was very tuff and quite inedible. The rest of the buffet dinner was good. If you're an early riser you have a choice of coffee and pastries (pay extra if you're a juice drinker) on the deck followed up a bit later by a full breakfast buffet..... excellent! The rooms are nice, with a cute little balcony, although the bed in our room which was next to the kitchen had a bed that was sloping so our feet were slightly higher than our heads. .. not the best sleep I've ever had. All said and done this is an excellent cruise, the staff are friendly and attentive and i would recommend this experience to anyone.

My wife and I decided to do a two night cruise after much research. We would recommend the two night cruise because you get a full day to enjoy Halong Bay's beauty through kayaking, swimming, and exploring the beaches. Also, you can enjoy your room a bit. We booked a senior suite and enjoyed our balcony in the mornings with coffee and in the evenings with a glass of wine. The service and food were excellent. They paid a lot of attention to plating of the food. I would second the comment regarding the stained table linens. My wife noticed some small stains, but it was not enough to ruin her experience. Although, if they are claiming to be a 5 star cruise, they should pay more attention to these details and make sure fresh linens are put on each table after each meal service. The room was very spacious and the bed was one of the more comfortable we had during our trip. Our guide, Han, was very informative, but let us have our space on the day tour. In our case, another bonus of the two night cruise was that most of the ship stayed one night so our day tour on the second day consisted of only one other couple.

We have selected this cruise following positive recommendation and we could not enjoy more. A few very objective reasons that made this tour just perfect:- First and foremost, our guide Chris Tran, who was absolutely superb. His attention, ability to care for details and knowledge made this trip really special. More than just taking us along to the bay, he shared very good information about Vietnam, its people and history, being very communicative and completely trustworthy the whole time. I truly recommend Chris as a guide and hope he continues developing his leadership and positive behavior as a tourism expert.- The boat is very comfortable, decoration was prestine and facilities were new. Very clean, very organized, not disappointing versus the beautiful pictures in the website.- The boat crew is another highlight, all of them going the extra mile to make the stay as comfortable as possible at all times.- Food was one of the best we had in Asia so far. Meals are very well served, giving a good taste of Vietnam cuisine. In my opinion, the only opportunity to improve is the itinerary. Being Ha Long Bay such a big landscape, I felt a few important attractions were missing (e.g. we did not visit Hang Dau Go or Hang Bo Nau, which are within the top 3 best caves in the bay according to several guides). I had expectations to see the main attractions, and think this could be incorporated into the 3 days tour with no major issues, instead of the trekking which lasted the whole morning. Still, Ha Long is a beauty of nature, and exploring it with this high level of professionalism left the most positive memories of our trip.

This cruise was one of a kind. Really really amazing. We loved it!!Ignore the grumpy German reviewer who says 'never again'. Some people just love to criticise or look for reasons to complain. For anyone not fluent in German his review, in short, is something like "praise goes to the cabins, food was so-so on the 'nightboat', terrible on the 'dayboat'. Even Nescafe you have to pay for. Nothing good to report about the guide". OK, so, even if this is true, does that warrant 1 star?? Thankfully it's not true in the slightest. To be honest, I suspect he may have written a review for the wrong boat. This Signature cruise boat that we were on is only 11 months old. Compared to the rest of the junk-style boats we saw on the bay it really, really stood out. There were some pretty fatigued and grubby boats out there it must be said. The cabins here were indeed beautiful and the food was some of the best food we'd had in all of Vietnam. No kidding. On top of that the cookery class was great, the guide likewise great....he was friendly, with good English and provided a wealth of information and delivered that information with enthusiasm and passion despite obviously having to repeat similar details day after day. He could not be faulted.Likewise the route around Cap La island, seeing the Thien Canh Son cave and fishing village was really great. This cruise really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we met another couple travelling who were similarly impressed.I cannot think of anything critical to say about the cruise. Yes, we had to pay our bar bill (but drinks like coffee and tea were free of charge) at the end, but we knew this was the case. And with such a luxurious cruise for such a good price there is no way this could be done otherwise (or for cheaper, considering the number of staff on board that tend to guests needs....and keeping the ship running). The cave trip was pretty busy with several groups of tourists there at the same time but is that anything to complain about? If you really want something much more "intimate", like no one else on board the boat, except for the crew then maybe book the smaller Prince Junk by Indochina Junks and pay three times as much. But I feel the kind of trip we opted for, with Signature cruises, where you meet a few other people is a lot more congenial and social. Privacy, if you want it, can of course be found in the wonderful and large cabins any time you like.Credit also goes to the fact you could get a massage onboard, get taught tai chi and, rather amusingly, we saw 'squid fishing' on the agenda, which we tried one night but failed at. We even jumped off the boat and had a swim in the South China sea.

The trip to ha long was comfortable and our tour guide mr. Tan was very entertaining and helpful... We were lucky to enjoy this excursion with a lovely set of people who boarded the cruise along with us...The entire cruise team was so helpful and pleasant in every way. The activities on board and especially the kayaking through lime stone rocks and caves in ha long bay was just amazing.... Mr. Tan took personal care of our needs on food, as we were non meat eating; and a very tasty alternative was always provided... The crew realized we were on our honeymoon And made a special presentation of fruits and champagne to us on the night before we left the ship... It was indeed a and wonderful experience, and we personally recommend the signature cruise to anyone visiting ha long bay....

My family and I went Halong Bay in June this year. We booked 3 superior suites with Paradise Peak. There are only 8 luxury suites onboard. We had a personal butler providing a very personalised service. The food was delicious, especially the seafood platter and the spring rolls. The overall service exceeded excellent. In Paradise Peak, the package is pricy but it's worth every single cent. If I can only use one word to describe this luxury ship, it must be -Wow !

We had a personal butler, Lam , who took care of our needs. Most importantly the food was excellent, especially the seafood during lunch ( so fresh, especially the crab from Halong bay ) and the endless options offered during the Ala carte dinner. Thanks for the nice surprise, an Anniversary cake. Thanks to Edgar of Paradise Cruise, Mo and her crew and our butler Lam, who paid every attention to ensure our comfort on board. I searched a lot on the Internet and finally decided for Indochina Sails. Good choice. From beginning to the end, all worked well. We were on their biggest boat which was very luxurious. Nice rooms, good food, attentive staff, quite a high end cruise, really. You wont be disappointed. Although staff had some problems in communicating in English, they tried very hard. We have chosen the 2 nights/3 days which I our view is the perfect combination, as on the second day, you will visit the outer area with a small boat (still the same quality, don't worry). It's also recommended since the drive from Hanoi takes quite some time due to the traffic and bad roads. Unfortunately the weather was very misty and grey, but it was still a fantastic experience. Don't miss the floating village.

I would recommend Indochina sails to anyone thinking of traveling to Halong Bay. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Vietnam. We were picked up from our hotel in Hanoi without any problems. The drive from Hanoi to the Bay is terrifying! I think that goes for everyone, it wasnt just our driver, it was the craziness of Vietnam! As it was our honeymoon we booked the presidential suite which was amazing considering the size of the boat. We had a big bathroom with a lovley spa bath and plenty of room in the cabin. The food was outstanding. The staff were excellent and the boat was devine. They have two happy hours on board, a great time to sample the cocktails! We did the 2 night 3 day trip and I would highly recommend doing this, the second day kayaking around secluded caves and beaches was simply breathtaking. We were both speechless at times at how beautiful it was. This trip was definately value for money and one we wont forget in a hurry.

My husband and I loved this cruise. We did the two-day one night. We stayed in the heart of Hanoi so the drive to the Ha Long Bay port was about 3.5 hours. Longer than I expected but it was a great opportunity to see the country side. After finally getting onto the boat we got the keys to our room. We went with the more expensive rooms on the second floor. Our room was more spacious than I expected and they also had complementary wine for us to drink (which I loved). The room was beautiful clean and the bathroom was nice and spacious. Shortly after settling in we were served a 6 course lunch which was amazing! The cruise had act ivies like Tai Chi and kayaking if you wanted. They also had massages which we got. They were cheap but not sure the girl knew what they were doing (might want to skip the massage). Our guide was wonderful and everyone spoke decent English and made us feel very welcomed. This was a nice relaxing way to see the bay.

Very comfortable cabins (we were even given a new cabin on the day boat). Excellent food. Smiling and helpful staff. Don't miss kayaking in the bat cave, carving of vegetables tai chi at 7 a.m., a glass under the stars on sun deck or climb to see the view. Thank you.

What an experience! We loved every minute of the cruise, our only regret is only booking the one night cruise we wish we had gone for two nights. We felt welcome from the minute we where greeted at the hotel all the way to the transfer back to the hotel. Everyone was fantastic and would take time out to talk to you and explain interesting facts about the surrounding areas. Plenty to see and do. Our captain always tried to make sure we where the first to arrive at each destination to make sure it wasn't crowded, the caves are an amazing experience. If/when we go back to Vietnam this would be on the top of our list for must do.

Majestic views and an overall fantastic trip! Cabins are clean and spacious and the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Well run and food fit for a king! Enjoy 5 course meals by the large windows looking out at the bay, wake up to tai chi and stunning sunrises and watch the day end with some of the great cocktails on offer during happy hour! Couldnt have asked for more and highly recommended :)

As part of our trip to Vietnam we had an overnight cruise on Halong Bay with Paradise Cruises. This proved to be one of the main highlights of the whole trip. What a magnificent area this is, being yet another stunning reminder of the incredible and diverse beauty of nature. It was a privilege to be sailing between the numerous vast limestone outcrops and absorbing the peace and tranquility of this area, despite being surrounded by many other boats. We also really enjoyed the trips to the caves and the visit to a small island to have a swim and walk to the top if we wished. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of rubbish in the water, especially plastic, and the water isn't very clean either, so I definitely didn't put my head under while swimming. The boat we were on was fantastic as well. and we would highly recommend Paradise Cruises for their professionalism and attention to detail. The cost is worth it! We had a a very comfortable, nicely furnished cabin with a small balcony where we could sit and enjoy the views and there was plenty of room on the rest of the boat to do the same if we wished. There were 27 passengers on board but this did not feel crowded and did not interfere with our individual privacy at all, as noone was loud or noisy. The staff were also excellent and the food was fantastic, so we couldn't have asked for more. The only sad thing, from our point of view, is that all tourist boats in the bay are now painted white, following a directive from the government earlier this year after one of the ministers apparently visited Sydney and liked the white colour of the Captain Cook Cruise boats on Sydney Harbour. What a shame to spoil all of those beautiful timber creations with bad white paint jobs! If you are visiting Vietnam, do not miss a trip to Halong Bay!

Waking up to step out onto our balcony and look over the calm water surrounded by beautiful rock formations was definately a dream come true. Yes - sharing a world class world heritage site with thousands of people on hundreds of boats is a bit strange at first but the scale of the place is truly impressive and worth the effort. And yes the water is dirty, mainly around the villages, but it is easy to look past that and soak in the atmosphere. Indeed the overall atmospheric haze was more disappointing than the water quality. We had an overnight stay on an imperial cruise ship. Beautiful, clean accommodation and good service from the cheerful crew. Our main guide was excellent and answered all our questions. Personally we enjoyed the small size of the contingent on our cruise. We enjoyed the kayak after a walk through an impressive cave, although the used nappy and dead rat floating in the water were a bit off putting. It made sure that we stayed upright in the kayak though! If you are in Vietnam it is well worth the time to visit Halong Bay and we would suggest an overnight cruise would be far more fulfilling than a day cruise.

We did a 2 night 3 day cruise with Paradise Cruises. I would recommend doing the 2 night rather than the 1 night as the drive from Hanoi is 4 hours, I think an 8 hour round trip for 20 hours on a boat would not be ideal. The Paradise Luxury junk was excellent. We had an upper room with a balcony, which was small but functional (not much room on the boat for huge rooms). The food on the boat was excellent, and the staff were very good and helpful. My bag got misplaced, and they worked hard to find it, although I was panicking for a while. The sundeck on the top was nice with plenty of sunbeds. On the first day we went to surprise cave, the main surprise was that it was rammed full of other people so was a slow queue through the cave and that it was pretty much ruined by too many people. Unless you are desperate to see the cave this would be a good time on the sundeck (I don't think they go here every day). On the next stop we were at Titov island. Some people went up to the observatory and said it was interesting, we kayaked to the beach, which was a nice trip. Overnight all of the junks park up together. The evening meal was nice, but after that the boat has little life and they put a film on. We could hear some of the other junks partying. If you want a party boat probably not for you, but for a quiet time this is ideal. On the second day we were moved onto the day boat, which for fine for the time we spent on it, and it had a bar and sundeck. On Cat Ba island we cycled to a village and went for a walk in the jungle. After going back to the day boat we went to an area of islands were we could kayak through some caves into otherwise inaccessible lagoons, these were spectacular. Next day we had a quick rowing boat visit and then off back to port. Overall very good cruise, and well worth the visit.

It made the trip go fast Violet Cruise was excellent. The guides on boat were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful as could be. The room was great and the food superb! It wasn’t cheap but it was worth every cent! Hightly recommend you!

From our arrival at the harbour departure centre to our return I was delighted. The food was fantastic the cabins were understandably small but bigger than I expected. The shower etc was amazing. The staff were wonderful and I will never forget waking up and looking out at the little islands magic. one night isn't enough I need to go back. We also stopped and got to see monkeys which was brilliant and went to the caves It was unseasonably cool when we were there 16 degrees C but dry I went for a kayak any way which was worth it.

Ha Long Bay is still awe inspiring and the crew helped us experience that in a relaxing environment. The crew got a little cheesy at some points, but what cruise operation doesn't do that? They were very professional and organized! Most importantly, we never felt rushed through anything. The rooms were a good size and we were surprised by the bathroom, having imagined the worse. Activities were nice and happy hour was a hoot. Those guys were making drinks as fast as they could, but they couldn't keep up with the demand. Overall a very enjoyable trip and one that I would recommend anyone "splurge on".

What a great trip around the bay! The staff treated us like royalty, without being too in your face. There were things to do, like swimming, kayaking, squid fishing, Tai Chi and a cooking class (with eating), but you were never pressured to do so and could be left to your own devices if you just wanted to relax. Great view out of the bedroom window, and the aircon was like ice if you needed to cool down. We enjoyed the food, especially eaten outside the dining room next to the water, omlettes made to order for breakfast. The caves were a nice touch on the next morning for a bit or exploring.Thank you.

We went on the classic Bhaya for one night with two kids aged 7 and 9. From the moment we stepped on board the service was impeccable. We loved all of the tours and the kids loved the free time swimming most. The fishing village tour was great, the cooking demonstration hilarious (in a good way) and the cave tour amazing. All of the crew were just lovely, the food was great (although our fussy western children did not eat much except for breakfast) and the cabins were really clean and had everything you need. All of this was made even better by the fact that this place is just beautiful. The host on this tour was exceptional. Would recommend this tour in a heart beat.

We booked the Classic Tour of 2 days (2 half days with transfers) and one night. The transfer bus picked us up from our hotel at 08:15, it was prompt and we stopped for 20 minutes on the way for a comfort break at a ceramic market. Arriving at the port we were greeted and given tags for our cabin numbers. We decided to book the ‘Royal Suite’; it was spectacular, spacious, private balcony and complementary champagne, well worth the extra cost. The boat was clean and very comfortable. The food was excellent; lunch was plentiful as was dinner with a choice for the main course. Overall the bar prices were reasonable for a cruise trip. Everything was included in the trip re activities stated in the online description. We left the cruise early on the second day to be transferred by private speedboat to Monkey Island (an extra cost per person), this was pre arranged and worked well for us. On our return to Cat Ba 6 days later, we had a complementary transfer from the Bhaya Port/Harbour back to our hotel in Hanoi. I would recommend this company and cruise; they are efficient and have very high standards both with the accommodation and staff. I was the most expensive part of our trip, but worth every penny.

We booked a 1 night 2 day Cruise and loved every minute of it. The Bhaya crew were very hospitable and so friendly. The boat itself was luxurious and had enough decks and lounge areas that it never felt crowded. The 5-course meal served in the evening was lovely and the drinks were very reasonably priced even without the happy hour discount. The atmosphere on-board was lovely and very relaxed allowing guests to choose to either sit back with a glass of wine and take in the beautiful scenery or take part in the kayaking, floating fishing village trip, early morning cave visit or squid fishing. We had heavy rain on the second day of the cruise but the boat was equipped with enough umbrellas and ponchos for everybody so that we could still enjoy the early morning cave trip without the weather spoiling it. We would definitely recommend Bhaya cruises

I was originally trying to book another boat, which was fully booked. This was a blessing in disguise and I'm so glad I came across the Star Light Cruise. Spike, our tour guide was extremely helpful thoughout the trip and made sure all passengers were comfortable and informed. The boat, only a year old, is absolute 1st Class with great layout and detail throughout. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and the staff were so friendly and extremely attentive. I couldn't find any faults and only wish I could have stayed longer. The Star Light Cruise really stood out from the rest of the boats in Halong Bay. Absolutely loved it and would not bother trying other cruisers if I get the chance to come back.

We were a party of 6 doing the Halong Bay over night cuise.. We were originally book on another boat but were upgraded to the Star Light.. We did not expect to end up on this beautiful boat.. As there was only 9 other people on this boat it had a very good atmosphere..Our cabin was more than i expected with a large comfy bed. mini fridge and 2 sitting chairs and table, the bathroom was not what we thought it would be like, plenty of room and with a spa.. All our lunch and dinner meals were 6 courses and very yummy.. The Cave tour was well worth doing on a very hot day, it was absolutly beautiful.. At the end of the first nigh we all did squid fishing (with no luck) and karaoke which everyone enjoyed.. We also go to do the floating village tour which was very interesting to see how these families live in little huts on the water. The staff on Star light cruise could not do enough for you.. I would recommend this tour to people and of course would redo it myself but for longer.

I am not by any stretch of the imagination a cruise travel person. However, this small boat run by locals was delightful. It had an old fashioned grandness to it with simple, yet tastily appointed rooms. The two day tour included excursions to caves and a stilted village. The scenery along the Bay was in constant change of spectacular, breathtaking views. The food was good. And you even get to join in a cooking class.

Excellent service with a personal butler. Outstanding food. We especially enjoyed the fresh seafood platter - some of the best seafood I've ever had.The room was well appointed and spacious. We took one of the rooms on deck three and it had a lovely balcony and also great big windows to view the bay from.Halong bay itself is lovely of course, but the exclusive and classy boat certainly makes it feel so much more luxurious. Cons: 1. Regardless of which company you use or class of boat, it still takes four hours by car/shuttle each way from Hanoi to Halong Bay, because of the speed restrictions on the road.2. Prices of alcohol are on the high side at US$10-15 for a glass of wine.

After seeing the brochure for this cruise, after booking it with our Hanoi hotel, we were extremely excited about it. However we were a little disappointed by the transport to Ha Long Bay. We knew the journey would be 4.5 hours and we thought with the money we were paying we would have had a decent mode of transport. However, this was not the case, on moth journeys (there and back) we ended up in a small minibus (van) that was cramped and extremely uncomfortable. It was also a very long journey and if we had not taken snacks we would have been very hungry. I think this is definitely an area that needs addressing. However, once we were on the ship the staff made sure we were comfortable and the smiles and welcome we received made up for the horrendous journey we had just undertaken. We were greeted with a drum and refreshments and then had a welcome meeting. The room we stayed in was a twin room and it was beautiful. The large windows were fantastic as they gave you stunning views. The beds were comfortable with fresh linen and the bathroom was clean, always important. The rooms also came with a little balcony which was perfect to sit and relax on in the evening. The cruise itself was well organized with activities that kept us all busy. It was quite hectic but still very enjoyable. The food on the boat was lovely. As I don't eat fish the boat catered for me separately and made sure I received a course at the same time as everyone else. The trip around Ha Long Bay was beautiful even though it was misty. The best views happened to be in the second day of our 1 night 2 day cruise as we sailed away from the other boats. There are a lot of other cruises and junk boats around and it can feel quite crowded. Overall it was a great experience and one I would recommend. Just try to arrange a private car or something for the journey from Hanoi.

The cruise itinerary was good. Rooms are big and clean. All bedrooms have jacuzzi bathtubs, although I personally prefer standing shower rooms instead. The family suite was big, and the air con could not cool the room sufficiently, partly because Halong Bay weather is just too hot in June. Signature Cruise is more expensive than the other cruises. Staff, rooms, expeditions We travelled in March 2014 and had an amazing time. The boat is new so the rooms and the rest or the boat were immaculately presented. We were lucky to have room A1 which says the cabin at the front of the boat with a large private balcony. One of the main selling points was that the boat was new and very luxuriously appointed and we certainly weren't disappointed! The staff were very attentive and made the whole experience feel very relaxed but with excellent attention to detail. The surprise cave tour on the second morning was fantastic and the boat trip round the floating village was a great experience and was well guided by one of the team from the boat. The actual cruise and staff were excellent. We would recommend the 2 night 3 day cruise that we booked, vs the 2 and 1. The sea kayaking and multi-course excursion boat meal on day two, was a highlight and would be worth the trip alone with little else included. The trip to and from Hanoi, the usual staging spot for this trip, with the roads, construction and traffic make the trip out and back an challenge. If you can afford it, upgrade to the balcony bedrooms as these have amazing views of the bay as you cruise around. The food was lovely and the crew were very professional and nother was a problem.Enjoy it and book it!

I’ve just had a wonderful holiday in Halong bay with Gray line cruise on 25th, December, 2013. It was an amazing tour even though I booked this tour by chance, suggest by friend in Hanoi. Everything was excellent. Good communication from starting tour until finish. The room is comfortable with nice decoration and nice view. Staff is friendly; they are very helpful whenever we need their help. I will come back or recommend to my friends for sure! It was an Unforgetable trip where I celebrated the X'mas in Halong Bay.

The ship cabins were just perfect - very nicely designed, clean, bigger than expected, in perfect condition, with a porch and a very large window - just what we needed to relax and enjoy the spectacular view. The crew was friendly and most helpful. I got a very relaxing face and back massage in my room - highly recommended! I very much appreciated the fact that the itinerary was clear and repeated throughout the day, so we had no doubts as to where we had to be, and when. What was also very surprising was the fact that the itinerary was followed through - without a single hitch. Zero problems - absolutely no setbacks - meals were on time, boat pick-ups, cooking class (I just made some spring rolls at home with my kids :)), hotel pick-up, everything went smoothly and without any delays. If we are fortunate enough to get back to Ha Long Bay, we will definitely be returning to this cruise. Thank you for a great time!!

Our travel company, Smile Travel  upgraded us to Gray Line for our overnight Halong Bay experience & we had a fantastic time. The boat was gorgeous. We had an upstairs front berth with a private balcony which was clean & roomy with a very comfortable bed and impressive sized bathroom. The crew were friendly & very helpful, the menu varied & delicious with care given to individual requirements. The cruise manager, Kendy, even sent a small boat ashore to bring a specially ordered cake when he was told that we were celebrating a birthday. The program me & the service were excellent, we could have happily stayed another night.

Great service, great guide, unbelieveable boat. Could not fault this, would recommend fully. The food was lovely, and the cabins on the boat really were fantastic. Rain showers, private balcony - perfect. Halong Bay is absolutely stunning - some of the attractions are a little touristy (Fishing village and caves) but an absolute must for anyone staying in Vietnam. Thank...

We totally loved the small boat and the small passenger number (only 11 guests). The boat is lovely. The cabins are small (it's a boat after all), but the bathroom was surprisingly large with a separated shower. The room is not exactly what I would consider as luxury, but it's good enough. The rest of the boat and the tour was amazing. We are two vegetarians and the kitchen staff cooked for every course something especially for us. The food was great and very nice presented. Most of the food was seafood directly from the bay. We loved the social atmosphere and talking to the other guests. Our guide Duc was really nice and went out of his way to make our stay memorable. He gave us a lot of additional information and was always around for questions when we were moving from one place to another. On the whole trip we have only seen a couple of other boat, all from Indochina Junk. One stayed nearby for the night, in case of an emergency. We were happy about the alternative, quiet routing. The fishing village was very interesting to see, and the kayaking a lot of fun (guided by Duc).If time and money allows, I would go for the 3d2n trip, because on the 2d trip you have in fact only 24 hours on the boat.

I was'nt sure when booking this boat as it had a few mixed reviews but I was so glad we did book it as it was amazing. We got picked up on time at our hotel in Hanoi and spent around 3-4 hours ont he road. It was so uncomfortable especially if you are tall as there is zero leg room. The check in for the boat was easy and we were lucky that there was only ONE other couple joining us!! The boat was lovely esp the outdoor seating areas, watching the sun set with a beer was magical. Our guide Wang was so funny he really did make the trip, he knows so much and is so entertaining. Our cabins were good and the bathroom was very fine with a HUGE shower. We went kayaking, spent time on a beach, visited caves and the local fishing village. The food was lovely and so much of it.I wouldnt hestiate to book with them again as it was fantastic!

We basically booked Red Dragon Junk ..It was definitely worth for value. The cruise is not for group tour for 3 days, so we decided to enjoy 2 days and 1 night cruises. Because we loved the traddional cruise with a special style and see the Bai Tu Bay and Halong Bay as well. The places that this cruise visits were amazing, not many tourists places on the 1st day, and the second day we visited Amazing Cave. Food on cruise was fantastic,we had no complain on this. And we commend the Cruise and agency.

Booked a 2 days/ 1 night cruise on the Red Dragon II and loved it! Yes, it is true as they say, the actual cruise is about 24 hours (from 12 noon to next day 12 noon), and the ride to get there is about 4 long hours each way - but it is just so totally worth it! The Halong Bay area is gorgeous, and the Red Dragon is a great way to experience it. The boat itself takes about 10-12 people, and we had a great time with our fellow travellers. The food is amazing - all fresh seafood with lots and lots to taste and eat. The first day we spent on the boat, and kayaking and swimming in a beautiful bay in the afternoon. The second day we visited the floating village - amazing! Our guide was a local guy - which was nice. The cabins are small (of course - its on a boat!), but has airconditioning, large windows (that opens and) provide great views, and there is an ensuite bathroom. So you can even enjoy the views of Halong Bay passing even while in the shower :)For us - 24 hours was enough - but if you want more - just book the 3 day cruise. And just so you know; all the boats in Halong Bay are now white - not the beautiful brown and reds and so on you see in all the pictures. For some reason the authorities decided white was better. I kind of diagree. But don´t let that put you off. The Halong Bay cruise on the "white" Red Dragon is still a treat.

Just returned from an incredible experience on the Red Dragon II (which is now painted white). Everything was wonderful - food, staff, activities, and cabins. It is a long drive, but is well worth it for this amazing experience. Red Dragon takes you to a quiet peaceful part of the bay away from the crowds and noise. Just beautiful ! Be sure to bring cash for drinks (pricey for Vietnam) and for gratuities at the end. I would definitely recommend .... really great !

Paloma Cruise is an attractive option because on the first day, they venture to Bai Tu Long Bay, a far less touristy portion of the bay. It was such a treat to not see any other cruise ships all afternoon until sunset. We particularly enjoyed kayaking and swimming in the bay. Our cruise was around half full, and they graciously upgraded everyone they could. The guests were mostly couples or families. With only 2 days/1 night on the ship, I recommend not doing everything on the packed itinerary. While they do tell you that everything is optional, it certainly doesn't feel that way. I would skip : the cooking demonstration, the squid fishing, the cave visit the next day. There's very little relaxation time, which is counter intuitive. Force yourself to say no!The ship is in good shape and we were more than satisfied with the rooms. They almost served too much food! The service of the staff is fine, though we felt that some of the workers didn't want to be there. Regardless, we were happy with our experience and only wished we were on the water longer!

We went on the 2 day 1 night cruise with Paloma. It is about a 4 hour drive to Ha Long Bay with a couple of touristy souvenir stops along the way but we were lucky enough to have the shuttle to ourselves on the way there. Once we finally got on the boat the facilities were good and the food was plentiful and excellent. The activities are fairly typical - visiting a floating village and the Sung Sot cave, but we did enjoy these. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially David, and overall we enjoyed the trip, although it is a long way to go for less than 24 hours on the bay.

My family recently did the two day/one night cruise aboard the Paloma. We managed to get a triple room for us and our 15 year old son which was great as not many companies offer this. This room is right up the front with it's own sun lounges and balcony so very nice. The rooms, food and staff were all excellent however we found it very regimented in terms of time for activities and not much leisure time. The road journey is about 4 hours each way.with obligatory stops at the usual tourist traps for snacks and souvenirs. My only other criticism is the fact that you leave very early for the return journey when you could probably have more time on the cruise. You then sit around at the holding area (on land) waiting for transport to return to Hanoi for over an hour which is quite boring as there is nothing to do there.

We booked the "honeymoon" suite at the end of the boat with its own balcony as we had never been on a "cruise" and were worried whether we'd enjoy the experience. It delivered beyond our expectation (although we were not able to do the BBQ on the beach as the local 'inspector' for some reason would not permit our group to do so).The highlight was the middle day with the kayaking through the karats into hidden little bays away from all the other tourists.Food was plentiful and great. And we enjoyed the company of others on the boat more than we'd expected and randomly saw our shipmates in various other destinations as we toured the country - one of those crazy "Closing Doors" wonders of the world.Well worth investing in is the room with a verandah....lovely to have your own bit of outdoors and Paloma makes this affordable versus some of the much much more expensive trips. We paid $360 AUD per person and felt this was really great value for money.

There were three of us on the cruise, we've stayed for one night. Price was reasonable. We were surprised to realize that all drinks, not only alcoholic, were chargeable and not cheap. I suggest that you will buy drinks before you get on board. Other than that, cruise was great, food was fantastic and plentiful. Activities included squid fishing at night, cooking lesson, kayaking to a stunning floating fishing village and visiting an impressive cave. All activities were fun and there were many photo opportunities. .. to sum it up: very good - buy all your drinks before you go on board...

We stayed one night on a Paloma cruise ship on Halong Bay. This company was excellent to deal with from start to finish. They answered all questions before we got there promptly, clearly and honestly and all our arrangements worked out perfectly. The actual experience once they picked us up was excellent. It was first class all the way. They take very good care of you. We enjoyed our guide and the scheduled activities. The boat itself was lovely, clean and elegant. The meals were several courses and quite good, although at times I did wish they did not take so long. Our daughter left her wallet in her room and when we called later that day from the Haiphong airport they got right on it. Before we left our next destination, Hoi An, we received it via special mail service. A huge thank-you for making sure that happened. Big kudos

There seem to be 100's of tours cruising halong bay of various different qualities and themes and it's hard to choose but I doubt anyone would be disappointed with this one. It was a very mixed group on our cruise of families and older and younger couples. As part of a younger couple I felt like they probably got a good balance of things to do so you didn't feel like it was all weighted towards any particular group. Also they seemed to time excursions well when what we were seeing was fairly quiet. I loved the kayaking and open water swimming most but everything was good. It's a full schedule but you don't feel bossed or shepherded about just entertained. There is LOADS of food given to you during the cruise all included in the price and all delicious. There's a bar on the boat and a nice terrace. Drinks are reasonably priced (and strong!)Tour guide seemed a lovely guy and very knowledgable. Cabin was comfy and it was just really cool to spend the night on it in the bay definitely worth doing. When your considering what cruise to take I think if your going from hanoi like us something that really makes this company worth picking is the transport you go in. It's a long (4 hour) drive to halong bay on a very undeveloped bumpy road. These guys take you in new comfy minibus with air con. We saw lots of other much less appealing buses heading the same way which would have been a lot less fun and at least two broken down at the side of the road which would ruin your trip! For what you get this was not expensive.

I really struggled with which boat cruise to go on in Halong Bay. I also struggled with the decision if it was worth the 4 hour drive each way. I can say that it was definitely worth the drive and I was really happy I went. I was also happy that I chose Paloma. (After days of research I had narrowed it down to Bhaya and Paloma). Our guide and the crew were amazing. Very helpful and provided top-notch service. The food was really good, the boat was clean and well maintained. We (I was traveling with a friend) enjoyed all of the activities (kayaking, floating village, pearl farm, spring roll making, squid fishing, tai chi, suprising cave, etc..). We also lucked out with a great group of passengers on the boat. If I had to come up with something to complain about, it would be that the beds are quite hard. Otherwise, everything else was great. I highly recommend the Paloma, after angonizing over the decision, I was really happy with my choice.

2 couples from Australia. Retirees but VERy fit and active. Where do we start? The expectations we had were far and away exceeded bu wonderful staff and fantastic food. yes there were minor hiccups but that is all part of the journey. We were collected in an airconditioned 'super mini bus' from our hotel in Hanoi absolutely on time.Travelled the 4 hours to Ha Long Bay with a stop at the most wonderful and I mean wonderful community centre for disadvantaged people where they work and create the most amazing marble sculptures, silk artwork of world standard, clothing and laquor work second to none - this is not a junk shop. It has very clean toilet facilities and after you have spent 1/2 and hour here you are ready for the onward trip to Ha Long Bay.All the while you have an English speaking tour host who makes sure that you have everything you need. Arriving at the boat dock, you are taken out to the 'mother ship' where you are welcomed with a full briefing and drinks/food.We had the thee day/two night cruise and you definitely need this to enjoy what the area has to offer. The rooms have superb amenities. At this stage I have to say there was one AWEFUL woman and her family from Adelaide in South Australia who was an embarrassment to our country. She was a buffoon and extrememly ILL MANNERED and did nothing but complain - we think she was just a miserable fat toad who would complain about anything. She went on and on and on and in the end we told her to just shut up and stop annoying everyone. So, back to the trip. FANTASTIC staff, food and activities capped of with a 'formal' BBQ on a deserted private beach - fully catered with wine (all drinks are extra's but at very reasonable prices)Kayaking, walking, swimming - all available and of course a great limestone cave walk. All in all 110% - we will be back.

Yes the trip from Hanoi to the marina is long and a rough bumpy ride. But the moment we stepped on to the Emotion Junk we enjoyed our cruise. As we are a family of 4 incl 2 young boys we had a family cabin which was a double cabin and a cabin with twin beds interconnecting the view from our cabin was beautiful in the morning. We enjoyed the caves and the boys enjoyed the hike to the pagoda. Food was good and the service was fine. Squid fishing after dinner was a big hit with the boys as was the spring roll cooking class.Being winter it was too cold to kayak or swim but would love to experience the beautiful bay in summer as it would be a different experience. Loved our trip and glad we picked Emotion also.

Took this 2 day, 1 night cruise as part if an organised tour. The twin cabin I had was surprisingly roomy, bed rock hard, but I slept very well. Could lie in bed and watch the scenery. Bathroom was fine. Staff I spoke with were very friendly and hard working. Lunch was great, dinner also good. Catered to my dislike of prawns. Tap beer cold and cheap, wine quite expensive however.Trip to caves, beach and fishing village all fine. Thai chi was a laugh and the cooking class results tasted great. Only downside is the 170km, 4 hour bus trip on appalling roads to get there, simply because as an Australian not used to travelling so slowly. Was a great end to my Vietnam trip.

We had a wonderful trip onboard the white dolphin! Our cabin was clean and comfortable and had a little balcony. The staff were very friendly, especially the tour guides. The food was fresh and plentiful and the sun deck was just perfect to hang out on. The trips were as advertised. The only little complaint I have is that we were already back in Halong at 11am the next morning, with breakfast and lunch squeezed in before that. It would have been nice to have a couple more hours to relax onboard and a later lunch than 10.30am . I would still highly recommend this tour and do it all over again....but for two nights next time.

It's a long slog from Hanoi to Halong Bay (4 hours each way) so make sure the weather is good if you have some flexibility over when you go.We stayed for two half-days and one night aboard the White Dolphin while cruising around Halong Bay. Comfortable cabin, facing the stern with views to port and astern, clean, good bathroom. Under way the windows let in diesel fumes, but overall excellent. Food was again excellent and plentiful, and they served a reasonable if pricey range of wines and spirits, plus usual beers and soft drinks. We visited the caves (really worth seeing, awe inspiring) but the downpour curtailed trips to the beach / up one of the hills to the temple at the top. The rain & numbers of sizeable jellyfish deterred even the hardiest of our group from swimming, and so sadly we ended up marking time and waiting for the coach back to Hanoi. A real shame because in good weather I'm sure the area is magnificent.

We were pleasantly surprised at the smaller junks (6 to 7 cabins). It is very nice, a great place to meet people from different nationalities and to enjoy the slow cruising in this beautiful Bay. The rooms have showers and comfortable dining rooms with excellent food. The drinks are pricy and if you plan ahead maybe bring a bottle of wine and some water on board with you. It was very enjoyable. The exprience on the boat in Halong bay was the highlight of our 3-week trip to Vietnam. As it comes to junks in Halong Bay: you get what you pay for!

We went for a 2 days Cruise with my 2 daughters in one of the Galaxy Premium Cruise boats and when one of my daughters went to bed late night and open the cover, found her bed had the cover with freshlike blood stains all over... we call the guide in to see it... he could not believe. They changed the bed and apologize multiple times because the person that was responsible of the rooms cleanness was on vacation and I do not know what other non sense... The fact of the matter is that experience was ruined because of that. Never seen anything like this showing no care at all. Basically, that day, they did not change the beds sheets.... There are plenty of other companies that operate Cruises in Halong bay. Just go for another one please. The rest of the trip was ok... no more... food short and not that great... drinks for a fee... The road to Hanoi is in construction and is a 4 hours of back pain.By the way, they did not compensate us at all for the experience. Just Nothing!!

My wife and I booked the Galaxy Premium via our Hanoi hotel. The company and guide, 'Mike' was excellent, the room and food of a high standard, better than I expected. Although Halong Bay is amazing and a must do site, it is also polluted and there is no way you could swim in the water. It was laughable to be given a towel for swimming on a small beach on one of the stop offs! There was washed up litter and boat debris everywhere. It is sad there is no effort being made to keep it clean. Despite this the caves and views and the general iteniary was good. The journey from Hanoi is long and uncomfortable and for over £100 each, a bit expensive. I think you get what you pay for by comparison to other companies. However, if you feel that seeing Halong Bay is a must, like we did, then I would recommend Galaxy Cruises.

It s a brand new cruise with great staff and very nice food. They prepared some very nice vegetarian food on request. The staff was extremely helpful and tried to accomodate a lot of requests from 8 of us! (phew! ;)Recommed booking atleast 1 night. A day trip is too taxing.

we use Galaxy for our overnight cruise in Halong Bay. We were picked up from our hotel at 8am and were at the Bay by about 12.45. The road at times is full of pot holes and don't sit on an outside seat on the coach if you are a nervous traveller as the roads are pretty scary at times. Our guide was Lucky and he was extremely informative and always ready to help. The food was amazing, we told them we were vegetarian and they went out of their way to cater for us.

After a bumpy three hour ride from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay you enter a traditional Vietnamese vessel to relax, to enjoy fresh springrolls, have a beer, go kayakking, to visit a huge cave, witness a floating village and do some squid fishing at night. For a few dollars more you can get yourselves into the honeymoon cabin to enjoy the fairytale landscape even more up close. The Galaxy Cruise team is willing and able to comfort you at any possible way.

LIke with most enjoyable experiences in Vietnam, they are made that extra bit special because of the service and the Galaxy Cruise is a clear example of this. From the outset, our tour guides, Nam and Huy, made us feel very relaxed. The tour ran at the perfect pace. We had a great mix of eating, seeing the caves (along with informative guide), kayaking, a cooking lesson....The evenings were relaxed and we were happy to spend time with Nam and Huy and appreciated their relaxed attitude. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Everything ran efficiently and smoothly and would recommend any one to use this tour for Halong Bay.

Drinks quite expensive on the boat so take a bottle for your room if you want to keep cost down! Water cheap on board. Would highly recommend!

We were looking at alot of boats for Halong bay. We decided on this boat as there are small numbers on board. Our hotel got us an upgrade to the honeymoon suite which was very nice. There was a bottle of wine and some chocolates left in the room for us and a bouquet of roses. Tour guide was very helpful with everything. Food was amazing for a boat. We done the Whitsundays in Australia and most of the food was cold. All the food was freshly prepared on board. The decor was nice, upstairs had lounge chairs to chill out on. We visited the cave and done some kayaking around the floating village. Only thing we did not really like was the way the put the food out on the tables. If you were at a table of 4 they would only serve 1 plate for the table and all guests must take food from that plate. Its just a bit awkward when you dont know the other people who are sitting at your table. All in all a good tour, a must see when in Vietnam.

It is a great way to visit Halong Bay. From the booking to the free airport transfer, everything was perfect!! We booked the 2D1N which is OK, but if you can afford it and have the time, the 3D2N option is well worth doing as you spend 3 to 4 hours each way to Hanoi travelling on a minibus. The whole crew was amazing, they are very professional and fun...very helpful at all time. We booked a Premium Double Cabin, it was very nice and clean. The food was extremely good with lots of fresh local seafood!!!

As noted by Willie, the cruise my fiance and I were on (along with Willie) was incredible. Even though it was technically cut short by Typhoon Nari, along with tens of thousands of others who had to be evacuated, the guides (Siao + Hui + several other awesome people) convinced the company to put us up in a 4 star hotel and then they created an ad-hoc "Typhoon itinerary". This itinerary was totally put together on the spot and honestly was probably more fun than the remainder of what we had left to do on the official itinerary. That night, those of us who didnt want to go to sleep yet went with the guides to have Bia Hoi (fresh draft beer) and talk and laugh and exchange stories of our various countries and back grounds. In the morning, they took us out to the local market to pick up fresh ingredients for a "cooking demonstration" where we rolled our own spring rolls and then fried them at the same Bia Hoi location from the night before, all within walking distance of the hotel. Had a lot of fun talking and toasting with everyone to the tune of "MOT HAI BA YO!!!!". They weren't our guides so much as our friends and hosts, I can't even begin to thank them enough for their amazing service and friendship, ESPECIALLY considering the detrimental circumstances that could have potentially ruined that part of the trip. The boat itself was newly refurbished inside and was really a pleasure to be on, I especially liked the "rain" shower with an open window to the sea. Although, as a bit of advice, be careful when you have that window and blinds open! Hahaha good timesThe normal itinerary was also a lot of fun, lots of delicious food (hope you like seafood, let them know if you are allergic to shell fish!!), cave touring, swimming in really warm water, and kayaking through some pretty amazing caves and lagoons. At one point we got on a smaller local boat and they were amazing too, I just hope that the Typhoon didnt do them any harm!I can honestly say that this trip went above and beyond what we had expected, and that was largely due to the fun + adaptable crew + awesome passengers. Many of us, about 10, continued to hang out and tour together around Hanoi when we got back from Ha Long bay.Sometimes fate messes up your plans but in exchange you get friends and a truly unique experience for everyone involved. Galaxy Cruise, especially their guides, were the medium :)

We had the 2 night package, if I was to only have the 1 night I think I would have been disappointed, because on the extra day you go to the most beautiful , clean secluded beach and you spend the day there, kayaking, jumping off the boat, we swam for hours with just us and another couple from Holland. this was a very special day, probably the best we have had in Vietnam. The tour guide ( Tan ), really made the trip for us, he explained everything, even sang songs in the bus on the way home. The only fault I would give the cruise is the general state of the main area of Halong Bay. It's pretty dirty, I wouldn't swim there. but this is not the fault of Galaxy. I would recommend this cruise.

The boat has great food and luxury looking, it really is a 4 star boat! We had the premium cabin wich was big enough and a nice bathroom. Ha Long Bay is magnificent. Our family had two very comfortable adjoining rooms at the stern of the boat , with enclosing balconies. Not only were the views maginifient, it's down right peaceful! Food served was wonderful with every meal a delight and the crews assited with our special requested meals. Enjoyed the cooking demo but it was sometimes a bit hard to find out exactly what was happening, with mixed messages being conveyed by different crew members, but it worked out OK. Anyway, sitting on deck watching the islands glide by was better than any on-boat activity could be. The highlight was definitely the kayaking in the encircled lake. The drive there was terrible - lots of road works, bumps, very slow etc. Still, don't let this discourage you; Ha Long bay is just beautiful

When you are surrounded by one of the most beautiful places in the planet and in holidays is really hard to get wrong ...I wasn't aware what I had chosen, I was just keen to go to Halong Bay and the cruise was a plus. I love that we were a small group of 13 or 15.The food was plenty (which not necessarily means quality), the staff was super helpful and the tour guide "Tim Tam" had great sense of care and humour.Search for deals as we found amongst the group; we all paid very different prices and some of us got great deal through group buying.Ah! I wish they told me, you don't need to take much of your luggage, just leave most of it in the hotel and at least, in our cruise nobody was interested in dress up = it was super casual and comfy. And even is a cruise, bring some good walking shoes as the walk in the cave and up hills need something more than sandals, I think.

We had the boot for our group alone. We were 10 Guests and the expectations were high after seeing the image movie of V Spirit on the net. Reality was miles away from the shiny image film. The crew rejected our request to stay away from the crowded places. The diesel engine exhaust was so bad that the rear balconies could not be used without the risk of being poisoned. The food was very average. Not much of the freshness of Vietnamese cuisine. 50% of the deckchairs were broken. 100% of the deckchair covers were so dirty that no one would dare to use them.Bed and table linings were not clean. In addition, and not in crew responsibility: the halong bay was full of rubbish. Garbage everywhere. No fun. I would not go again.

When in Hanoi and or in Northern Vietnam one must take an overnight cruise in Halong Bay.We did it from Hanoi after a long bus ride that we expected and it wasn't as bumpy as most people say in this forum. The disappointing part of the ride and the cruise was the weather in that we could not get clear blue skies …cloudy and misty but did not spoil the magnificent views of the Bay.The junk V'Spirit was somewhat disappointing in that the exterior of the boat needs a desperate face lift as most of the boats we saw do.The interior was OK and our cabin turn out to be one of the better ones at the top with a full bathroom and a nice large window that we could open for the fresh air and the view. However we expected more based on what we paid with Vietnam Tours…don't use these people. The island stop and the view from the island is great, the kayaking was great, the food class was fun, the morning fitness class on deck was fun and the food that was served on the boat was plentiful. What we did not like about our cruise was the floating garbage and the poor infrastructure condition on island especially since this is a UNESCO sight…i would think they would set some standards.Overall it was enjoyable but wished that we could have seen it in the bright light of the sun under blue skies… i was told that the best time for that is the month of October.

The cabin on our boat was lovely, very spacious for a boat and clean. It had everything we needed and was great to be surrounded by such a lovely view. However the activities were quite frustrating it seemed that we had to do something every hour or so but not spend any real time to do something worthwhile. e.g. the beach was pretty small and dirty but i guess it was close, the kayaking was fun but again just round in a small circle without much to see or with any freedom to explore. It would also have been nice just to be able to chill out on the top of the boat and admire the view. The food was fabulous and they adhered to everyones food preferences, even if some were trivial! Our tour guide was great, Tam he was so enthusiastic and polite and entertaining. I would recommend unless someone had a better experience as its a very touristy spot and they are probably all very similar - if that is the case this one was a great choice.

Our cruise on Halong Bay offered spectacular scenery. The staff on V Spirit were most attentive. Our guide in the cave and on the swimming beach managed to keep us rounded up without being intrusive of our personal time. It was amazing how he managed to find us all scattered amongst others on the beach, as everyone always looks different once they are wet and bedraggled after a swim but he found us and politely advised that it was time to head back to the boat. The cabin was clean and relatively spacious. All staff on board were friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic and just kept on coming. We shared the table with vegetarians so their meals came out as well as the many dishes for us. I'm sure we had twice as much food as everyone else. The whole experience was positive from beginning to end. I just wish the ferry terminal had air conditioning and clean toilets. This, however is not a reflection on this cruise company but feedback to be passed on.

We booked the 2 nights 3 days option on Marguerite Junk. They picked us up from our hotel in Hanoi (Old Quarter) on time (they even called the reception the day before to reconfirm our pick up time) and we got on a comfortable minibus. The driver was very careful and we felt safe the entire journey. The guide Tien was very informative. On the cruiser the room was great, very clean, not too small and they even prepared flowers and rose petals on the bed for our special occasion (honeymoon). We recommend you pay a bit more for a room on the upper deck as we did, as fellow travellers booked on the lower deck told us there was a really bad sewage smell in the mornings. The food on board was exceptional, very varied, large quantities and simply delicious. My husband does not eat fish nor seafood so they prepared separate food for him. However, I must say the drinks on board are really overpriced! No wonder people buy drinks from the small boats, it’s less than half price. We really recommend the 2 nights 3 days option as on the second day you really get to experience more of Ha Long, go kayaking in the beautiful area of the Caves of Light and Darkness and visit the Pearl Farm. The guide we had for this day however (I can’t remember his name unfortunately, but it is a local guide, not from the cruise) was quite terrible. He spoke very bad English, we struggled to understand him and tried all the time to talk us out of doing the activities we were supposed to do… For example he tried to convince us not to kayak because of the cold weather and pay extra for going on a rowing boat. Fortunately we insisted on kayaking and it was definitely worth it (with the rowing boat you don’t get to see the smaller caves). Also, while we were on the kayak the guide was always way ahead and not concerned at all about the rest of the people, we felt totally unsupervised and it was our first kayak experience… Then he said we could not go to a beach further South because of the wind… we still don’t know if it was true or he made it up. Anyway, the kayaking was great and it is worth the extra day in Ha Long.On the last day you do a bit more kayaking around the floating village and they teach you how to make the delicious spring rolls which is good fun and you get the recipe, too. After that you get to see fruit and vegetable carving, which I first thought was just something they do to fill in the spare time, but I must say it was very interesting. It is amazing what that chef can do with a tomato or a carrot…

We stayed on the Marguerite Junk for one night and although it was good to see the bay, we could have had more time for activities, as there was a lot of sitting around. We did about an hour on the canoes and the cooking demonstration lasted about 15 minutes. They also provide limited free water, so make sure you take some with you! Having said that, our tour guide Tong was very kind and knowledgeable about the islands, city and told us about the Vietnamese culture on the bus transfer down. The food was also good and the rooms were very clean.

I'd recommend Marguerite with no doubt, if you aren't looking for a very luxury and expensive trip, but a good middle class 3-star room, good food, very nice guide Qui, nice tourists (of course, that can't be guaranteed at all - but it was) to have good time together.Well organized. If you want to save money - order the package at their website - and you will get a good hotel stay and airport transfer for a very reasonable price. City trip with the guide will be just a gift - I compared the prices...

I stayed overnight on the Marguerite Junk - the staff went to a lot of effort to entertain us, answer our questions on a variety of subjects, and engage genuinely with everyone on the tour group. The boat itself was really quite nice. The biggest stand out point was our tour guide, Quáy (sorry Quáy if I have spelt your name wrong!!). Quáy really threw herself into getting to know each of the guests and into making sure we all had the trip we were looking for. Her warmth, energy and genuine friendliness is what made my stay enjoyable. One particularly outstanding point was that the staff contacted me to refund some extra money I hadn't even realised I'd paid, a good couple of weeks after I'd returned to my home country. Thumbs up for honesty!

We traveled with a larger special interest group and the Margarite Garden cruise was part of a 2 week itinerary, the junk chosen by the organizer. We occupied all but one room and the general view was that the cruise was excellent. The junk was well equipped, quite clean and comfortable although one person had bites from bed bugs after the night's sleep. Additional activities such as Tai Chi, cooking class, kayaking, cave tour etc were all enjoyed. Meals were set menu and included but drinks were extra and a reasonable price given the captive market and the space limitations of the boat. Wifi was intermittent. One unpleasant experience at the end, when paying for the drinks while on board we were charged for extra beer and water we did not consume. I had signed drink tabs during the cruise that had showed total numbers not amounts. When I was presented with these tabs to pay, additional drinks had been added to the totals. It was only a few dollars but left a bad, and lasting, impression. When I spoke to some other group members later, they had just paid without checking, so probably were stung too. Overall, very good but insist on the price being shown on any extras tab.

We booked a two day one night trip on the Marguerite and had a fabulous time. The boat is in great condition with lovely cabins with doors which open straight onto the deck and large windows. There is a great lounging and viewing area on the top deck where tai chi is taught at sunrise, great way to start the day. The staff were really friendly and helpful, food was delicious and plentiful, and I even received a cake with fireworks and a lovely bunch of flowers on my birthday. I would definitely recommend the Marguerite to anyone considering a trip to Halong Bay.

My husband and I spent 2 days and 1 night on the Marguerite Junk. We had a great time, exploring the caves, going to the beach, rowing, squid fishing,Tai Chi,star gazing and watching the beautiful scenery. Our guide Rocky was with us from leaving Hanoi until our return back. This was very informative, as well as learning he has a fantastic imagination when it comes to rock formation. The junk and staff were 5 star all the way. The rooms were clean, excellent staff and fantastic food.Would highly recommend Marguerite Junk.

We purchased a 2 night package that included one night on board the boat and one night on Monkey Island. Everything on board the boat was great..... The lunch was excellent, a lot of effort was put in to the awesome dinner and presentation of it. The excursions were great as well as the evening Kareoke and drinking. Shots are a bit expensive at $5 though. The only disappointing part was that the contingent going to Monkey island was rushed up and through breakfast the next morning and after 4 transfers and an hour and a half of waiting at the Cat Ba port in the sweltering heat we joined another tour group and were taken to Monkey island. The new tour guide didn't pay much attention to us "new arrivals" although we were happy to be left alone to do our own thing. A couple we met complained about the situation and were giving a small refund. Nonetheless we made the most of the time, met great people and made new friends. I would recommend only booking the side trips when you arrive in Hanoi as it's much cheaper. I would also recommend buying large waters from the vendors before you leave Halong Bay and Cat Ba..... they only have pricey small waters on board and at the resort.

We were picked up from our hotel in Hanoi and straight away struck a friendship with a couple on the mini bus. It is a four hour drive each way to Halong Bay and there is the obligatory stop at a huge shop where you can see locals making traditional hand stitched pictures and lacquer wall hangings. The hub at Halong Bay is buzzing with people. There are a lot of day trippers as well as overnighters. We were glad we booked on the relatively small Royal Heritage - 14 persons max and there were only 8 of us during our overnight stay. It is v disappointing that all of the boats are now painted white - they don't look anywhere near as mystical and oriental. That said, the facilities on our boat were superb. We had a delexe room which was very well presented. The ensuite was bigger than the one at our hotel in Hanoi! The staff are terrific. Our tour guide, Hung, was excellent. There is a lot to pack into the time at Halong Bay, however, there was still time to relax on board and make new friends. Drinks were fairly expensive, as expected. The aircon in our bedroom was arctic, however, very welcome after a really hot day. I'd highly recommend an overnight stay rather than a day trip - it's a long way to go in one day.

This cruise came up a lot cheaper than some of the others we looked at, and it still delivered everything we wanted. We did a two day one night cruise. The pick up from Hanoi was I a comfortable air conditioned mini bus. We boarded the boat, were greeted with drinks and shown to our room. The whole trip included a cooking class, kayak tour, trip to the lookout, a trip to the amazing caves (which really were beautiful and well worth the trip) and all our meals. You really do get your money's worth. And we got a tai chi in the morning - get involved, well worth it. The staff are very friendly and just local guys trying to get by. Nice to support a local business .

My girl friend & I booked a 2-day cruise trip with Royal Heritage via our hotel in last June. We were picked up by a tour guide at the lobby of hotel very punctually & Greatly on the bus there were a few other tourists traveling to halong like us and that is why the tour was more interesting. We shared the points of view about the World Cup's football matches and the tour guide is young but very informative and spoke good English. probably June is the low season and there were not so many tourists in Halong yet. Our cruise hosted only 4 couples and i myself like such a trip. Our room is located on the 2nd floor with good views to the sea and bathroom is so clean & well fitted. The foods were also very delicious and obviously we all love Vietnamese foods. We will surely recommend this trip to everyone

We did a 2 day, 1 night trip in July 2014 which cost 115 USD per person. We had a double room with a large bed - the rooms were bigger than I expected! Our friends had a triple room (1 double, 1 single) which was also nice. Neither room had much floor space but it wasn't needed as we spent virtually no time in the rooms. The bus there was average and we were given a free bottle of water. The guide was very informative and told us some things about Vietnam and also a detailed itinerary of the trip! At meal times tables were set up already in group sizes so there was no worry about not having enough space. Food was bought out continuously and we could never have eaten it all! Most of the food was nice and seemed very fresh. Breakfast wasn't great but I was very full throughout. Kayaking was amazing, as was visiting the cave and swimming in the bay! The drinks were pricier than normal Vietnam - 45000 VND for a beer, 21000 VND for a coke, cheapest bottle of wine was $20. You could've snuck your own drinks in though! The only disappointing thing was the lack of water. We only got one bottle on the bus there, none with any meals or at any other time throughout the 29 hour trip. I would've liked to have been warned about this as I didn't really take enough water with me! A most memorable trip, Our room was very comfortable and the food authentic Vietnamese, the fish was very good Drinks are extra but very reasonable.. The Crew bent over backwards to help in every way. We enjoyed the evening on the top Sun deck taking with people from all around the world. The caves were wonderful take walking shoes. Then on to kayaking around a floating village. We loved it.

About Halong Bay: Very impressive scenery. Stunning rocks. Birds soar from boulders to boulders. Sometimes low clouds and fog add a bit of mystique. Absolutely picturesque every moment. There are times when the quietness is so nice and all you hear are the birds chirping. About the ship: A bit old but still functions well. Food is average. I stayed in the deluxe room. Mattress is comfortable. Only very slight leaking from the windows during a heavy rain. No leak from the roof. About the smaller boat used on day 2 of the 3D2N itinerary: I quite like this. It's engine is quiet and cruises slowly and close to the limestones for us to admire on its roof top deck chairs. Lunch is amazing! Nine delicious dishes! Kudos to the crew. About the guides: Day1 guide Kevin was very impressive. On the bus, he started with teaching us basic history and some insights about the lifestyles of Hanoi people and Quang Ninh coal miners. He is very knowledgeable but at the same time very jovial. He leads tourists well with strong communication skills. Day2 guide "Mans" patiently helped us take great photos of us kayaking. Generally, this trip is meant to be a relaxing therefore not much need for him to do any explanations. Day3 guide Maggie is entertaining.

It could be hard to choose a cruise in Halong Bay because every tours look the same. This is my second time in Halong Bay and Legacy makes all the difference. The standing of the room was great. The food was amazing. Our guide Kevin spoke good english, was very funny and very attentive. You have plenty of time to enjoy the views and do tai chi or a cooking class.

Great cruise, nice comfortable boat, great food and fantastic guide and staff. Only problem is drinks aren't included and are expensive, around 50.000 dong compared to the usual 20.000 for a can. Other than that, well worth it!

You get what you pay for when booking a Halong cruise, the more you pay the better the boat and food, this one is pretty much in the middle. The staff were extremely attentive and "Maggie" our guide was nothing short of amazing, everyone loved her and she really did go out of her way to make sure that everyone was comfortable. We chose Legacy because on the 2nd day it goes to another bay that is less touristy which was nice. Its a jammed packed couple of days but everything is optional. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because when we docked on the last day the owners came on board and immediately counted the bar money in front of us and then went on to really yell at the staff, I felt embarrassed and so sorry for them, clearly we as passengers didn't buy enough soft drinks. The whole yelling experience left a sour taste of what was actually an amazing experience largely due to the staff on board.

We had a good time on the cruise! We enjoyed the food and the dining room setting. The activities were enjoyable and all staff was friendly. The cabin was clean and comfortable. It would have been nice to have a little more down time to relax. The schedule was very packed up until the last morning. We woke up at 6:30am to go to the cave at 7:30am, but then ended up sitting around for 1-2 hours after brunch with nothing to do. It would have been nice to sleep in and go to the cave a little later if we were going to have so much free time.

Overall I thought the cruise was superb. The boat was fantastic and the top sun deck a great place to chill out, have drinks and meet the other guests. I was delighted when I saw my cabin, I hadn't expected it to be so luxurious. And the crew were helpful and a lot of fun. I thought all the activities were good. If I had to make a suggestion it would be for the Vietnamese rolls cooking class to be a little more in depth, perhaps they could also show us how to make the filling.

The trip to Halong Bay was wonderful. My family and I enjoyed it very much. Overall, we rate the cruise as very good. Thank you for helping make all the necessary arrangements. We were pleasantly surprised that there were actually 3 Paradise Luxury Cruise boats taking off at the same time and it was great to see many excited tourists. The caves were worth seeing and while it took climbing more than 400 steps to reach the top of the pagoda, it was worth the climb. After 600 steps climbing to the cave and 400 steps to the pagoda, we were glad that we had made reservations for the spa as we really needed the massages. The drivers were punctual and safety was their number 1 priority. As neither spoke English well, that was a small setback but it did not take away anything from the trip

We booked the 3 days 2 ngihts Halong tour for our pre-honeymoon trip with Paradise and despite the higher price as compared to other cruise operators, it was worth every penny of it with the level of service coupled with the beautiful scenery and wonderful "wow/wild" memories. The Paradise cruise team along with the cruise manager, Piers, who was such a good host, mingled with everyone on board to either update us on the itinerary or have a good chat on everything under the sun. And breakfast/dinner would be buffet spread or 5 course set (delicious by the way). Absolutely delighted that a surprise chocolate cake was specially prepared for us. The whole trip had been so amazing and I particularly recommend the 3D2N as the 2nd day was pure fun (usually in small groups or private if you're lucky), right from kayaking to explore the caves, swimming and rowing their traditional boat to visit the villages. We were very pleased with our entire stay and especially the level of service at Paradise cruise.

On arrival we were met with a cool drink in a comfortable lounge while waiting for other passengers. As soon as everyone had arrived, we were boarded and on our way quickly which meant we were at the first attraction, the caves, before other boats. Lunch and breakfast are buffet but dinner is a set meal. As we wanted vegetarian option we told the company beforehand and they provided a good meal, high standard, nicely presented. The staff were very attentive but did not pester Cabin was very comfortable

We recently spent 3 days on the paradise cruise line. Everything was great here. My family with 2 kids(10,13) really enjoyed the cruise. halong bay is very beautiful. what sets paradise cruise apart from the other boats is that it docks from its own island, unlike all the other boats jumbled together on shore. The boat seemed to get to the excursions quicker than the other boats so there were no real traffic or crowds. The food was good. We enjoyed the breakfast a lot. The dinner was also good, but it was a set menu so you couldn't choose what you wanted. The staff were really friendly.

The boat seemed to get to the excursions quicker than the other boats so there were no real traffic or crowds. The food was good. We enjoyed the breakfast a lot. The dinner was also good, but it was a set menu so you couldn't choose what you wanted. The staff were really friendly.
